Meet Reené Ferguson of Unison Media, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reené Ferguson.

Hi Reené, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
**From Runway Dreams to Real Estate Skies: The Reinvention of Reene’ Ferguson**

I was 14 when it all began — sitting next to my mom at the Ebony Fashion Fair shows, completely mesmerized. Those shows were our thing every year, and somewhere between the lights, the music, and the gowns, I decided “that’s what I want to do”.

Fast-forward a few years, and that dream became a reality. I auditioned for the Ebony Fashion Fair in Chicago and out of 3,000 hopefuls, I was one of only eleven models selected. I spent two exciting years traveling the country, wearing the creations from top designers all over the world. It was incredible — the kind of once-in-a-lifetime experience that stays with you forever.

When the tour ended, life gave me a tough choice: chase modeling in New York or stay home to care for my mom. I chose home. That decision led me down a whole new path — property management by day, creative dreamer by night.

I’ve never been one to sit still for long, so I enrolled at Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts to study radio, TV, and video production. After graduating, I landed a gig as a narrator and spokesperson for Chevrolet at the North American International Auto Show. I traveled, presented, and built confidence behind the mic. Still, I wanted something of my own.

That’s when Access Health & Fitness was born — a local TV show I created to help motivate Detroit to get moving and live healthier. What started as a community cable show, turned into Michigan’s #1 health and fitness program, airing weekly on broadcast TV. It was educational, entertaining and inspiring.

From there, I launched Unison Media, producing commercials and video projects for clients across Michigan. And when the industry shifted, so did I — this time, back in front of the camera. Working from my home production studio, I became a top-rated on-camera spokesperson, creating over 2,500+ promotional videos for brands around the world.

Then came the pandemic in 2020. The world came to a halt and production work slowed down. So, I did what I do best — I reinvented myself. I studied real estate, passed my exam, and started helping people buy and sell homes. But as a creative, I couldn’t ignore my love for media. I began offering real estate photography to other real estate agents, and before long, I found my next evolution: becoming a licensed drone pilot.

Today, I’m a licensed real estate agent and drone pilot who literally goes above and beyond for my clients. I capture properties, neighborhoods and cityscapes from new angles — blending storytelling and creativity from high in the sky.

From the runway to real estate skies, my journey has always been about one thing: evolution. Every chapter has taught me something new, and every pivot has pushed me higher.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have definitely been bumps along the way! Every transition in my career came with its own challenges. When I left modeling, I had to figure out who I was without the lights and the applause. That wasn’t easy. Later, when I started my TV show, I depleted my entire savings to make it happen because I believed in the vision — even when it wasn’t profitable at first.

There were moments when I questioned if I was crazy for chasing something new again. Like when I left a steady job to pursue media full-time, or when the industry shifted and I had to rebuild myself as a spokesperson. And let’s not forget 2020 — when everything came to a halt. That forced me to pause, reset, and reinvent myself again in real estate.

Each time, I had to start from scratch, learn new skills, and trust that I could figure it out. There were sleepless nights, financial risks, and plenty of moments where I didn’t know what was next. But honestly, those struggles taught me resilience. They made me resourceful and confident in my ability to evolve.

So no, it hasn’t been smooth — but it’s been worth it. Every challenge pushed me to grow, and every pivot opened a new door I never would’ve imagined.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Unison Media is a media and marketing firm where I merge everything I’ve learned from my years in front of the camera, behind it, and now in real estate. Through Unison Media, I help properties and professionals tell their story visually. I specialize in real estate photography, drone videography, and lifestyle marketing that captures more than just a listing — it captures a feeling.

As a licensed real estate agent and certified drone pilot, I see homes differently. I don’t just shoot pictures — I create visuals that help buyers fall in love before they ever step inside. From high-end aerial footage to strategic marketing videos, I blend storytelling, media production, and real estate insight to help listings stand out in a crowded market.

What sets me apart is that I bring both perspectives — the marketer’s eye and the agent’s understanding of what truly sells a home. That combination allows me to create content that’s not just beautiful, but effective.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how Unison Media has evolved. It started as a TV production company and has now become a full media brand rooted in creativity, reinvention, and connection. So, I want readers to know that Unison Media is about more than marketing — it’s about helping people see the beauty in every story, every space, and every new beginning.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Start where you are — don’t wait until everything feels “ready.” Every big move I’ve made started with me taking a leap before I had it all figured out. I didn’t know how to produce a TV show before I created one, or I didn’t know how to fly a drone before I studied, practiced, and passed that tough exam. What matters most is that you start.

Your first version won’t be perfect, but that’s how you grow. Perfection doesn’t build success — consistency and courage do. Stay curious, stay teachable, and trust that every skill you gain will eventually connect.

If I could tell my younger self anything, it would be this: stop doubting yourself. You already have what it takes — the magic happens once you move.
