Today we’d like to introduce you to Queashar Halliburton.
Hi Queashar, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
After 22 years in Corporate America—working in every field from public relations, education, real estate to construction management, auto sales, and insurance; it was time for a shift. After soul-searching, purpose guided me to fulfill a life-long goal of becoming a self-published author in 2018.
Sharing my journey to authorship on social media prompted followers to ask questions about the publishing process. Multiple inquiries compelled me to establish Queashar Detroit Publishing, LLC ® to educate clients about the publishing process, marketing, building an author platform, and more.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I had to overcome multiple challenges during my purpose journey. The imposter syndrome held me hostage. I was a chronic procrastinator when it came to achieving personal goals and dreams. I was always playing it safe and operating within my comfort zone. I had to stop living in fear and bet on myself. I had to see myself winning to activate my goals. After self-evaluation, I realized what made me happy, and I started actively planning and crushing my life goals. It started with self-publishing my first project on procrastination in 2018, followed by multiple books and collaboration projects with industry experts. The rest is history!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
QUEASHAR DETROIT PUBLISHING. LLC ® provides professional publishing and consulting services for aspiring authors. As a Better Business Bureau accredited organization, we empower professional women to monetize their genius through publishing a signature nonfiction book. Not only do we support the publishing process, but we assist our clients in building a profitable information-based business inspired by the principles taught in their books.
I have published two personal development books and collaborated with other experts by contributing to four nonfiction anthology projects. My signature book is Skyrocket Your Success! 10 Keys to Refocus, Reposition, & Reclaim Your Purpose. My book is the foundation of my professional development coaching business, launching later this summer.
Skyrocket Your Success is a guide for budding entrepreneurs seeking to increase their emotional intelligence and become more action-oriented. This playbook will allow readers to stop comparing themselves to others, identify their zone of genius and focus on implementing a plan to monetize their expertise in the marketplace. Skyrocket Your Success is available online at Amazon.com, other retailers, and my website https://sharhalliburton.com/.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The most important tip that I would offer aspiring authors would be to stop waiting for things to be perfect before you get started. If you can provide the next-level transformation, your ideal client seeks, stop overthinking the process. Just dive in! You will perfect your craft as you learn during your journey. Your tribe is waiting on you to deliver their next-level change.
The second tip that I would offer aspiring authors would be to research and educate yourself about the publishing process. This will empower you to make informed decisions regarding your publishing project. Countless aspiring authors have been taken advantage of during the publishing process because they are so anxious to add the title of the published author to their resumes. They forget to do their due diligence and ask the right questions. Become an informed author and empower yourself to win by researching all your options. Learn about the difference between traditional publishing and self-publishing. Learn the new publishing trends and read books in your genre.
The third piece of advice that I would offer is to seek help from publishing professionals that have already successfully published a profitable best-selling book. Most importantly, be ready to invest in coaching and publishing education. YouTube and Google are helpful, but there will still be gray areas. Seek the professional advice and services of publishing experts to help shorten the learning curve during the writing, publishing, and marketing process.
