Meet Olivia Packan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Packan.

Hi Olivia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2013 I joined the St. Clair County TEC program for Cosmetology. Right out of high school I started working at a salon as an assistant, working my way up to taking on my own clients. After 6 years, I made the move to booth renting and owning my our business within The Shampagne Room located in St. Clair Riverview Plaza. I have now been doing hair for 7 years and specialize in color and extensions.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Making changes is never easy or perfect. It took me just about a year to find the perfect place to rent a chair. I think the biggest thing as a cosmetologist is hoping your clients take the move well and feel comfortable following you to the new salon. It wasn’t just a change for me but for all of my customers as well.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a full-service, independent hairstylist. I specialize in low maintenance/lived-in color. I think it’s important for someone’s hair color to have a seamless grow-out so they don’t have to be in the salon every 4 weeks if they don’t want to be. I am also a certified hair extension artist, mainly focusing on a keratin bond individual method. This method is extremely low maintenance and gives the most natural hair-like feeling and look. I think something that sets be apart from other stylists is my drive to continually educate myself on new trends and perfecting all services. I am most proud of all the relationships I’ve built and all the goals I’ve accomplished over the years.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In this industry, trends change constantly. So, who knows, maybe I’ll be specializing in something completely different 10 years from now. It’s so important to keep up with are constantly changing environment. I’m always setting new goals for myself. I’ve always had a dream of opening my own salon, so hopefully, that’s something that can become reality in my future.
