Meet Monica Wright of Little Party Wagon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Wright.

Hi Monica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I kind of stumbled into being a Balloon Artist. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for the past 10 years and was ready to get back out there and do something that is still flexible around my family. Before having kids, I was a hairstylist. It didn’t bring me joy, and I had no desire to return to that. I knew I still wanted to do something creative.

After seeing some other businesses in other locations that offer the Teepee Slumber party setups, I thought “I can do that!” It’s a fun way to be able to be creative and offer a service without having to start over. No new technical or college degree required.

Once I started booking parties, people requested balloons as well. I decided to teach myself how to do a basic balloon garland. This sparked a passion I didn’t know I had. Balloons took off, and teepees did just alright.

I decided to just focus on balloons and no longer offer other services. It gives me time to focus on one thing and do it really well instead of doing a bunch of things “O.K.”

Plus, I truly love how creative I get to be! I’ve always went over the top decorating for my kids’ parties and holidays. This basically carries that happiness over that I get from making someone’s day even more special.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every journey has obstacles, but I’m definitely a “glass half full” kind of girl. I don’t see the bumps in the road as a “struggle.” I view them more as something to learn from and grow. I tell my kids all the time that failing is how you learn. So, sure things have not gone according to plan, but usually, it’s only once because I’m prepared for that hurdle the next time.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business offers a variety of balloon services. My most commonly booked and requested services are Balloon Garlands & Balloon Marquees. I’d say my Marquee’s are becoming my niche. They are free-standing balloon arrangements that can be made in any theme and stand about 5-6 feet tall, depending on the design. They including 40” numbers and are great for any occasion, but anniversaries and birthdays are the most common. I put a lot of detail into them. People love that they are mobile and work great for celebrations at a restaurant.

I also offer all my clients a mock-up, so we are both on the same page with expectations.

My brand is all about fun! I want to bring joy and excitement to everyone! Making people smile and wowing them is the highlight of my day. I offer a more upscale look to your party. I want everyone to know that balloons can be modern and classy or fun and whimsical. Balloons are not just for kids’ parties anymore.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
When it comes to my clients, it’s that they are truly happy when I leave. Not only because it’s my name, but because making others happy makes me happy. I love the clients that geek out just as much as me when they see their balloons.
