Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Tews.
Hi Michael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story begins last year in 2025, when I discovered astrophotography. I fell in love with space and I wanted to take pictures of the milky way. So I dived in and bought my second dslr ever. A pentax k3. Then I got a pentax k1. Now I absolutely love photography, it means so much to me. I am going to travel the USA in a rv and be a traveling photographer.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No its not been a smooth road, lots of bumps. But each bump is a lesson learned. My biggest hurdle. Addiction. Im almost 4 years sober on August 2nd 2026. My sobriety date August 2nd 2022. I lost everything over and over giving it away to my addiction. Now im working hard on getting it all back and more. I strive to be the best version of myself everyday. Partaking in mediation, positive affirmations and manifestations.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer that doesn’t want to be put in a box. I dont have a specific genre I only shoot. I want to try all genres of photography. I really love, street photography, macro and landscapes. I’ve been dabbling in boudoir this year and very excited in helping women feel empowered in confident though my photography.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I have always been a risk taker. Getting in trouble at a young age, even as an young adult. Now though im 37, my risks I take are different. More thought out. Like with photography, I decided im betting on myself and im gonna take my photography career as far as I can take it and then beyond that. Thats the biggest risk I ever took was betting on myself rather than taking the safer normal route.
