Meet Michael Bress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Bress.

Hi Michael, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For me, it started with high school sports… High school sports were my #1 outlet and passion growing up until the day I graduated high school. Once high school ended for me, I was distraught and lost and found working out as another outlet. My love for working out turned into a passion for the gym and powerlifting. And that passion drives me to be the best personal trainer and coach I can be!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ohhhhh boy. There has been obstacles to say the least. For me, the two biggest battles I’ve faced have been when I lost my mom to her battle with substance abuse/addiction and my struggles with mental health. With sensitive topics like addiction and mental health, I couldn’t think of a better path I could follow when it comes to training/coaching and promoting an overall better lifestyle for a healthier body/mind.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started Bress and Barbell when I first started promoting myself as a personal trainer and powerlifting coach back in 2020. Offering everything from in-person training to online coaching, I simply help people get healthier, stronger and/or offer structure/external feedback for the people that just need a little guidance in the right direction. I’m mostly known for my powerlifting coaching as it takes up the majority of my clientele and is a sport, I compete in myself! I’m most proud of just simply how far I’ve come from the lost teenage boy who had no clue what to do with himself post-football & wrestling, compared to now being able to use my experiences and knowledge to help people overcome their battles and achieve what they want to achieve. What sets me apart is me! Everything I do, I do it intent and 100% effort. On top of that mindset and just being passionate about my work, I simply do everything I can to help, as authentically and diligently as I can.

Any big plans?
My plans are simple: Get better. Become a better trainer, coach, Powerlifter, person, etc. I just want to continue to get better and adapt with everything nowadays! Some changes I’m hoping to implement soon are more content on social media, an official website, and a new and improved logo design!
