Hi Micha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Certainly, the story of The Detroit Circus began in 2008 when I embarked on a journey to establish a circus training school in Detroit’s Eastern Market called the Detroit Flyhouse Circus School. As the school gained momentum and attracted aspiring performers, I realized there was an opportunity to bring the magic of the circus beyond the training grounds and directly to the community.

Driven by my deep-rooted love for the circus arts and a desire to showcase the immense talent that Detroit has to offer, I founded The Detroit Circus as an extension of the training school. It became the platform to showcase the skills and creativity nurtured within the Detroit Flyhouse Circus School.

From its humble beginnings, The Detroit Circus has grown steadily over the years. We have established ourselves as a reputable and sought-after entertainment provider, delivering unforgettable experiences to countless events and audiences throughout the region.

Our success is attributed to the relentless dedication of our performers, who constantly push the boundaries of their craft, refining their skills, and mesmerizing audiences with awe-inspiring acts. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
While the journey of building The Detroit Circus has been incredibly rewarding, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like any business, we encountered various obstacles and challenges along the way. These hurdles have tested our resilience and shaped us into the strong and adaptable company we are today.

One of the significant challenges we faced was establishing ourselves in a market that initially had limited exposure to contemporary circus and performing arts. Educating the local community about the unique blend of entertainment and artistry that we offer required dedicated efforts. We invested significant time and resources into raising awareness about the circus and showcasing the immense talent and creativity of our performers.

Additionally, like any live entertainment industry, we faced the unprecedented challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic forced us to suspend our performances and find alternative ways to engage with our audience. We pivoted to limited virtual shows and online workshops, adapting to the changing landscape and seeking out ways to stay connected. Navigating through the pandemic required immense flexibility, resilience, and the ability to embrace change.

Despite these obstacles, which I view as opportunities for growth and learning. Each challenge has strengthened resolve, honed our skills, and fostered a deeper appreciation for the value we bring to the community. We remain committed to overcoming any future hurdles by constantly evolving, staying true to our vision, and not compromising on the quality and magic of The Detroit Circus experience.

It’s through these challenges that we have discovered new possibilities and solidified our position as a prominent and respected circus company in Michigan.
