Meet Meme Green of Emma’s House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meme Green.

Hi Meme, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey was one of triumph and resilience. I was born and raised on the Eastside of Detroit. My father was brutally murdered when I was 2 years old and my mother went to prison when I was 7 years old. I was born into trauma, but I always had a desire to experience something different. I went to Catholic School for the majority of my life. I pushed my way through college at Detroit Mercy. Eventually, leading me to Capella University to receive my Masters of Science-Marriage & Family Therapy.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road was not smooth. It was filled with trauma, abuse as a child, uncertainty, and self-doubt. I was unsure of how I would navigate life while facing so many obstacles. However, I made the obstacles a speed bump versus a roadblock. My desire to push past my pain made me unstoppable.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Emma’s House Inc.?
Emma’s House Inc. was birthed from my pain. While my mother was in prison, my grandmother (Emma) raised me. She loved me through my struggles. She taught me how to love and receive love.

After I graduated with my Master’s degree, I wanted to create a safe space for children that look like me. Children that suffered from abuse or had a parent in prison.

Emma’s House Inc. is a safe space. I provide therapy for adults in marginalized areas. The same areas where I faced those obstacles. I’m proud of my company because it’s filled with passion. We were recognized for our hard work at the BET Soul Train Awards. It’s exciting because I’m just a young black girl that grew up in Detroit. My talents have catapulted me into the woman I am today. My business is thriving in Las Vegas. I’m widely known as an expert therapist, radio personality, and bestselling author.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck! I believe in divine faith and purpose. You have to really exude faith to know that you have a purpose. It’s the desire to push past what you can physically see with your eyes. You have to manifest what you want for your life. We are not lucky, we are blessed.
