Meet Meka Alexander-Wilson of Nynonis Relaxation Massage & Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meka Alexander-Wilson.

Hi Meka, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello I am Meka Alexander-Wilson from Detroit Michigan. I was raised up in a loving home with two awesome parents. At the age of 14 I had my first child. Determined to beat the odds I continued high school. Crockett in the mornings for Medical Assisting and Denby High School in the afternoons. I started working in a doctors office as a receptionist at the age of 15. My head was low most days because of the judgment of being a child with a child. I was embarrassed of myself. The support from my family helped me through. I graduated from Denby High School in 2003. I worked as a Medical Assistant and Team Leader for over 18 years. I attended Career Health Studies becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant, Hospice Care Assistant, and Wound Care Nurse. This is were I found my love for massage. Taking care of the elderly and giving them shoulder and foot massages would bring them so much joy. Always wanting to learn something new I attended Phlebotomy Express becoming a Phlebotomist Technician. The House of Glam becoming a Body Contouring Specialist. Over the years I started working closely with LMTs and Physical Therapist sitting under hours of teaching. I became certified in 12 different massage techniques. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and started going to school for Herbology. There I learned of several natural remedies that could help with pain relief and overall health. I started making my own capsules and oils to rub on myself and they helped aid in my healing. Reflexology and Lymphatic Massage is what I did on most of my home care-hospice clients and they loved it. It brought me so much joy seeing the power of human touch. I finally knew what my calling was. Being a single mother and working full time was HARD . I was determined to be everything that they said I couldn’t be. I wanted to be that teenage mom that made something of herself. I prayed and I asked God what my purpose was, what is my true calling how can I make a difference in others life. After a good nights sleep when I woke up I could remember my dream clearly. I started writing everything out that was in my dream. My dream was a clear business plan and what I needed to do to complete it. I became obsessed with getting it done. The plan was in motion. I took all of the money I had and started up the business. Nynoni’s was the name God gave me, being named after my children Nya, Noah, and Nia. I hired my favorite therapist and worked as their assistants while I finished school. Irenes Myomassology Institute was my favorite massage school and I became a Licensed Massage Therapist. Over the years I have been active in the community feeding the homeless, doing community outreach, working with domestic violence survivors, helping with the senior citizens and veterans. I’ve hosted several free massage events. It was a joy to give out over 15,000 worth of massage certificates to the community. Massage is my Life. There is no greater joy than knowing that you have helped someone. I continue to strive everyday to make a difference and to leave a legacy for my children. My heart is for the people and it shows in my work. My hands has been blessed for a purpose. Here we are in 2025 and I have massaged thousands of people. I thank God for choosing me to touch so many lives. I thank my family for supporting me in everything that I do. Without them I wouldn’t be who I am today. This is only the beginning, I am excited to walk in my calling and see where God leads me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have overcame many challenges and obstacles. Being a young mother was very hard but it taught me so much. I have been homeless sleeping in my car with my children my two youngest children after leaving an unhealthy relationship. No matter what happened I still remained focused. Working ev in pain with fibromyalgia was definitely a challenge. The all Natural Products and Remedies has helped me to work without severe pain. It was difficult for me when I first opened my business. There were days that I would come to work with no clients for the entire day. It was hard for me to stay motivated. I started speaking positive affirmations over my business and it definitely worked for me.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
You have to take risks in life. It was definitely a big risk stepping out on faith and leaving the medical field where I had job security to work for myself. I didnt know everything to do or how I would get it done but I did it. The faith walk isn’t easy but I walk it everyday.
