Hi Love, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
LXV3 is an artist from Grand Rapids, MI, who developed a passion for music at the age of 9. Raised by his mother as an only child, with his father incarcerated for much of his life, LXV3 was influenced by iconic artists like Eminem, The Game, Migos, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and Drake, among others. This inspiration led him to start freestyling with his cousin, F4M0, during middle school.
In 2013, LXV3, along with F4M0, began working on an unreleased mixtape called *YRN Bread Winners*, which was to be directed by their uncle. Initially focused on rapping, LXV3 eventually embraced a more melodic style, blending rap with harmonies and experimenting with sounds from underground artists like Lil Yachty, Rae Sremmurd, and Lil Uzi Vert.
After releasing *YRN Love* with 10 singles and an EP, LXV3 decided to rebrand himself and change his stage name to LXV3 during his sophomore and junior years, as it held personal significance, including connecting to his first name and his desire to spread a message of “Have Fun & Show Love.” LXV3 has performed shows, shot music videos, and collaborated with fellow artists in his group, F.O.E. He is active across social media platforms and continues to grow his musical career.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
LXV3’s journey has been entirely smooth. Growing up with his father incarcerated for most of his life likely presented challenges in terms of stability and support, which can influence an artist’s early years. On top of that, starting out as a young artist in a smaller town like Grand Rapids might have made it harder to gain exposure compared to those from larger, more music-centric cities.
Some of the struggles LXV3 may have faced include perfecting his craft and finding his unique sound. He started as a rapper but eventually transitioned to a more melodic style, which can take time and experimentation. Additionally, navigating the music scene, especially early on, can be tough. With the competition and the need to constantly evolve as an artist, LXV3 would have had to work hard to find his place.
