Meet Lisa Miller of The La Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Miller.

Hi Lisa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Lisa Miller is an entrepreneur, mentor, and the owner of The LA Collective, a thriving beauty and business community built on collaboration, education, and growth. With over 10 years of business ownership experience, Lisa began her entrepreneurial journey in retail before transitioning her focus to the beauty industry, where she discovered her true passion—helping others build successful businesses of their own.

At The LA Collective, Lisa has created more than just a salon environment; she has built a space where independent beauty professionals can learn, grow, and develop into confident business owners. Through mentorship, education, and hands-on guidance, she helps aspiring cosmetologists navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship while building sustainable careers.

Known for her passion for leadership and community, Lisa is dedicated to empowering the next generation of beauty professionals. Her mission is to provide the tools, support, and opportunities needed for others to turn their talents into thriving businesses and become the entrepreneurs they were meant to be.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not. Entrepreneurship is filled with challenges, setbacks, and moments where you question everything. Looking back, I can see that every obstacle was preparing me for where I am today.

Over the last 10 years, I’ve built businesses that I genuinely loved. At the time, I thought each one was the destination, but in reality, they were stepping stones that taught me invaluable lessons about leadership, growth, resilience, and what truly fulfills me as an entrepreneur.

One of the biggest challenges was learning that sometimes success means being willing to evolve. Letting go of a business, a concept, or a direction you’ve invested years into can be incredibly difficult. There were moments of uncertainty, financial risks, long hours, and difficult decisions. As a business owner, you’re constantly balancing growth with sustainability while carrying the responsibility of the people who depend on you.

What I’ve learned is that every challenge has served a purpose. Those experiences led me to create The LA Collective, which aligns more closely with my passion for mentorship and helping others succeed. Today, I find the greatest fulfillment not only in growing my own business, but in helping other beauty professionals build businesses and lives they love.

The road certainly hasn’t been smooth, but I wouldn’t change it. Every challenge helped shape the entrepreneur and mentor I am today
