Meet Lindsey Visser

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Visser.

Hi Lindsey, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Farming has been a long tradition in our family! Some of the land we farm is on the original homestead where our family settled in the 1850s.

We started Crisp Country Acres in 2013 with a goal to provide locally grown produce to our customers year-round.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Farming is a lot of long hours and dealing with many circumstances that are out of our control. The weather is always a challenge. It can be too hot or too cold. Too wet or so dry. All of that can affect the crops, but we do our best to control what we can and make the best of each situation. We know that not all of the crops will thrive every year, but are thankful for the ones that do.

The first years were very hard, but we look back and are amazed by how much we have grown and accomplished.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our mission is to grow a wide variety of good-tasting crops for the community year-round! Our produce is found at local farmers’ markets, our market at the farm. We also have CSA program and provide produce to several area restaurants and schools.

We do our best to provide great customer service to all of our customers.

At the markets, we have large tables full of produce. Making sure to have enough for everyone that comes to shop at the market. Rain, shine, or even snow, we are there each week!

At the market at the farm, we are a one-stop shop for local food. Along with all of our produce we offer a wide variety of food products from local business including milk, cheese, meats, bread, quiche & so much more!

Our CSA program offers members a weekly or bi-weekly box of fresh veggies. The boxes are packed according to members preferences, and members are able to customize their boxes each week.

We work closely with local chefs to provide them with local food! We make it easy for chefs to order with our customized order form on our website and offer weekly delivery.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I think I would define success as making a difference in people lives!
