Meet Kimberly Barodte of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Barodte.

Hi Kimberly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always been into design. From sketching, painting and eventually it turned to all things home related. Cooking, painting, gardening etc.. I have always had my hands in some type of design. That’s where I found very young that I thrived. Everything home has alwsys had my heart.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, isn’t everything a struggle when it comes to real life? Trying to figure out a way to satisfy your soul by creating and make a living is pretty common. I thought I wanted to go to art school and that quickly changed as I grew and needed to make money. I ended up in dentistry for 20 years to make a living. But still continued to create in some shape or form. Now, I Ana full time content creator. Styling spaces and hopefully inspiring others along the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Today, my creativity centers around creating social media. Sharing our home on social media has been quite an experience. Putting yourself out there can be terrifying and very rewarding at the same time. We live in a 1835 farmhouse in Michigan and watching it grow and change with our family has been amazing! My style would be characterized as traditional, collected and cozy. I love all things old that tell a story, with the occasional target find here and there, but mostly Antiques have my heart. I definitely love the thrill of the hunt !! I am most proud of being in a few magazines thus far, I’d flip through all the beautiful home magazines as a young adult dreaming of my forever home. It’s surreal seeing yourself in a magazine. What sets me apart for others is that I do what I love, I don’t usually follow trends or the latest new phenomenon in the home decorator world. If I do, which I have I always find myself back to the colors and patterns that I originally loved. Basically, I walk to the beat of my own drum.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I believe being a sucess comes in many shapes and sizes…… I truly believe doing something you love in a daily basis is a great thing! Satisfying your soul with making daily life beautiful and just finding joy in the small things is what defines success to me. Creating a welcoming, warm and happy home makes my heart happy.
