Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Denslow.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Massage school in 2009 after becoming a single mom and losing my home due to predatory lending and the 2008 crash. I felt that education was going to serve better than struggling to keep my home. My wonderful parents were kind enough to let us stay with them as i finished my program. Massage has allowed me to provide for my family and still have time to be a part of my children’s lives. I’ve traveled to costa rica to do trainings. I worked events in multiple states. I found a niche in Festival and Event Massage early on. I have provided services at offices, homes, vacation homes, events, festivals, hospitals, spas and so much more. I offer Thai Yoga Massage, Ashiatsu, Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger point Therapy, Hot Bamboo Fusion, Massage Cupping, Hot towels and much more. After many years of a wonderful massage therapy career I wanted to expand my talents. I am a level two reiki practitioner, Acudetox Specialist, and RYT-200 Yoga instructor. I am currently working on my 500 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training and am nearly finished. Acudetox is a acupuncture protocol that is applied to the ears also know as Auricular Acupuncture. Continuing my education has always been a priority. I work with Trio Wellspace in Holland to provide many of these services, as well as, working independently as Wake The Lion: Yoga, Massage, Empowerment, traveling to clients classes or events.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I began Massage Therapy it was not the respected trade it is now. Holland was much smaller town and people really didn’t understand the benefits. Unfortunately, Hollywood and the media had many people convinced that Massage is a luxury and not a necessity. Massage is much more wildly recommended by Doctors, PTs, OTs and mental health therapists. Its been amazing to see the trade grow to what it is now.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have done massage in the Holland area for 17 years. I do everything from relaxation to rehabilitation. I work with the elderly to live more fulfilled lives through releasing pain, mobilizing joints and reducing swelling. I work with people to relieve symptoms coming up to surgery and to rehab muscles and joints after surgery or injury. I love working with my clients doctors, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, chiropractors and personal trainer to create a personalized plan to manage and improve there over all life. Over the last few years I’ve have worked towards getting my 500 hour Yoga Teacher Certification and am now doing one on one Yoga Therapeutics with clients as well. You can count on me for a full body, mind and spirit tune up. We can put together a flexibility and strength program fine tuned to your needs, with massage therapy to help with recovery and rejuvenation. I am proud to be able to walk along side people as they find the path to their best life. My dedication to continue my education and to diversify my talents to help others in all aspects of there wellness, has been my priority. I also offer Auricular acupuncture to help detoxify your major organs, reduce cravings and symptoms of addiction, as well as a deeply relaxing treatment. I absolutely love to help others. I also offer public Yoga classes. I specialize in Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra: Guided Mediations and making Vinyasa more approachable to beginners. My goal is always to meet you where you are at and build a practice and routine for success.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
