Meet Joyelle Lee of Barn45

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joyelle Lee

Hi Joyelle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After a season of a failing marriage in 2009, my husband and I both sought emotional, mental and spiritual healing at a Christian recovery center in Huntington Beach, California.

It was there we were introduced to Bob & Stephanie Tucker, the couple who linked hearts with us by sharing the love of the Living God who eventually healed our marriage— but first had to heal us individually.

8 years later, we felt God directing our hearts to open a “heart hospital” —similar to the foundation of the center that God used to heal our marriage. We designed a “haven” that would be both pleasing to the eyes as well the heart.

In 2017 we purchased 13.4 acres and built a Heart hospital consisting of a large barn and a few others aesthetically pleasing facilities to hold gatherings, therapeutic workshops, bible studies, counseling, etc.

Also on this property we built a small cozy white chapel that’s open 24/7 and a little general store that sells our Merch and other local venders.

We also have a prayer trail that surrounds the acreage for anyone needing to find respite and retreat from a noisy world.

In 2020, we had to close our doors due to covid & decided to do a livestream bible study each morning for a short season. After 3 months we were in all 50 states and 12 countries. And now here in 2024, almost 5 years later, our morning Bible study livestream continues to reach all four corners of the globe while serving our local community through our onsite campus of Barn45.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth, most of the time. Obstacles, yes at times.
But we’ve soon found the obstacles have been purposely used to build us stronger at a foundational level. Just like an oak tree, when a tap root comes against a rock as an “obstacle” it wraps itself around the rock to help further anchor itself into the ground for stability and strength, keeping the tree erect and stable in a storm.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Barn45 is unique in that it’s not a church but it is.
We don’t look like the typical American western Christian evangelical church — we don’t have Sunday services, but instead are open each day as a “heart hospital” for the broken and weary; providing daily gloabal online Bible studies, therapeutic workshops and counseling, men’s weekly bible studies, women’s monthly gathering, worship events, family events, etc.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We are currently getting ready to expand the barn since we only fit 120 people at a time and our event registrations often fill up in less than one minute.
We also have plans for a coffee shop and book store to stand next to our general store.

Pricing:

  • We offer everything free at the barn with the exception of our counseling/therapeutic workshops
