Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Pettigrew.
Hi Joe, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I like to believe God put me in the position I’m in today. That’s what I’m standing on. These past couple of months have all been about finding my purpose. It’s bigger than the hurt I’ve gone through over the years, the bad vibes I aligned myself with due to trauma bonding, and every poor decision I’ve ever made in my life. In this season in my life, I’m fully committed to allowing things to flow naturally. I now know that the universe/God knows exactly what I need, so I’m tapped all the way in. That’s where I found true peace. I want everyone to get a taste of this. That’s my vision with Emmanuel Skincare. Our generation is heavily influenced by the outside appearance. I want us to start taking care of our souls, our inner beings.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I swear this journey has been crazy! I’ve been in some very dope situations where it felt like I was on top of the world, yet I know how the valley feels. That very dark, lonely place where things aren’t making sense and so many unanswered questions. My biggest struggle with creating my brand was my lack of self-confidence. I always thought, ‘”how can I teach men & women to love themselves if I don’t even love what I see in the mirror.” I had to take a step back and do some deep digging into my spiritual being. It did not matter what others thought of me or what was said. I removed myself from all the noise for six months straight. No parties, no drinking- nothing that would hinder my self-growth. Choosing your peace, and doing things at your own pace, unapologetically is such an emotional high for me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a local, black-owned, millennial brand based in Genesee County. Our specialization is self-care for multicultural, diverse men and women. We are scaling our business. A new website hub, where we create and promote a space for mental & social healing and clarity across all our platforms, with all new products for Spring 2023. Currently, we work with wholesalers, but we do have plans to partner with a science-based agency too. There’s so much we have in store for our audience.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
On this path of discovery, I’ve found a new hobby in baking; who would’ve thought that would be something I would enjoy? I’m really into healthy choices too. I really believe we become what we put in our bodies.
