Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Perreca.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Everyday Ascend was never about starting a clothing brand. It started with trying to become a better version of myself.
Like a lot of people, I’ve experienced setbacks that forced me to take a hard look at my life. I’ve battled my weight for years, lost more than 200 pounds, regained much of it, and had to find the strength to start over. Along the way I realized that growth isn’t about one big breakthrough. It’s about showing up every day, even when it’s hard, and making the small decisions that move you forward.
That mindset became the foundation for Everything Ascend.
I launched the brand because I wanted to create something that represented resilience, discipline, consistency, and the belief that we all have the ability to become just one percent better every day. I wasn’t interested in making another apparel company that simply printed logos on shirts. I wanted to build a community around a mindset.
Detroit has also played a huge role in shaping who I am. This city teaches you grit. It teaches you to adapt, to work hard, and to keep moving forward no matter what life throws at you. That’s why our tagline is, “Built In Detroit. Worn Everywhere.” While our roots are here, the message is universal.
Today, Everyday Ascend continues to grow one person at a time. Whether someone discovers us because they love the apparel or because they connect with the message, my hope is the same: that every time they put on one of our pieces, they’re reminded to keep ascending, no matter where they’re starting from.
For me, success isn’t measured by how many shirts we sell. It’s measured by the conversations we start, the community we’re building, and the people who decide not to give up on themselves because they found a message that reminded them to keep going.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges has been learning that building a meaningful brand takes time. We live in a world that celebrates overnight success, but that’s rarely how real businesses are built. There have been moments where growth was slower than I hoped, decisions that didn’t work out, and plenty of times where I questioned whether I was on the right path.
Another challenge has been balancing Everyday Ascend while working a full time career and managing life’s responsibilities. Like many entrepreneurs, I wasn’t able to simply quit my job and focus on the business full time. Every product, social media post, website update, and customer order has been built during early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
Ironically, the same message the brand represents is what has carried me through those challenges. Everyday Ascend is built on consistency, not perfection. It’s about showing up when nobody is watching, learning from setbacks, and continuing to move forward.
I also made the decision to transition from a print on demand model to carrying inventory myself. It was a bigger investment and came with more responsibility, but it gave me greater control over quality, fulfillment, and the overall customer experience. It wasn’t the easier path, but it was the right one for the long term vision of the brand.
If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s that obstacles aren’t signs to stop. They’re opportunities to grow. Every challenge has made both me and the business stronger, and they’ve reinforced why Everyday Ascend exists in the first place.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Everyday Ascend Clothing Company ?
Everyday Ascend Clothing Company is a Detroit based lifestyle apparel brand built around one simple idea: becoming one percent better every day.
While we design premium apparel, what we’re really creating is a reminder. Every shirt, hoodie, hat, and accessory is meant to represent resilience, discipline, consistency, and personal growth. We believe what you wear can be more than a fashion choice. It can reflect the standards you hold yourself to and the person you’re working to become.
What sets us apart is that we don’t chase trends or build collections around what’s popular at the moment. Every design starts with a message. Whether it’s “Built In Detroit. Worn Everywhere.” or one of our mindset driven collections, the goal is always the same: to create something people genuinely connect with.
Detroit is woven into our identity. This city has always represented grit, perseverance, and the willingness to keep moving forward no matter the circumstances. That spirit is part of everything we create, but our message extends far beyond Detroit. No matter where someone lives, everyone understands what it feels like to overcome obstacles and continue pushing forward.
What I’m most proud of isn’t a particular product. It’s seeing customers tell us that they didn’t buy a shirt because they needed another shirt. They bought it because the message resonated with them. Those conversations remind me that we’re building something bigger than apparel. We’re building a community of people who believe growth is a daily commitment.
As we continue to grow, our mission remains the same: to create high quality apparel with purpose, represent the city that shaped us, and encourage people everywhere to keep ascending, one day at a time.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was going downtown with my dad to his television repair business in Detroit’s Cass Corridor. I was fascinated watching him work, seeing customers come through the door, and experiencing what it meant to build something of your own. At the time, I probably didn’t realize it, but those moments planted the seed of entrepreneurship in me.
As a kid, I always admired what he had built. There was something special about knowing that his business was a reflection of his hard work, his reputation, and his commitment to serving others. It made me dream about one day creating something that was mine.
Years later, that’s exactly what Everyday Ascend has become. Having the opportunity to build my own company with roots in Detroit feels like coming full circle. Every time I see our “Built In Detroit. Worn Everywhere.” tagline, I’m reminded of those days walking into my dad’s shop and imagining what it would be like to have a business of my own.
In many ways, Everyday Ascend is more than a clothing brand to me. It’s a continuation of a lesson my dad taught me without ever having to say the words: build something you’re proud of, work hard, treat people right, and leave a legacy that’s bigger than yourself.
