Meet Jennifer Tien of Detroit Lashes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Tien. 

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been a licensed Cosmetologist for 5 years and counting. I have always had a love for the beauty community and the amazing services offered. It was the pandemic that has inspired me to try new opportunities and it dawned on me that I wanted to learn how to do lash extensions. What made me love what I do is the fact that I make women happier, more confident, and feel beautiful. It is an amazing feeling to be able to empower women just by enhancing their natural beauty! I have also built so many great relationships with my clients and I am so happy they gave me a chance by trusting me to be able to do what I do. I am forever grateful for all my lovely clients, friends, and family, I have enormous love for them. I wouldn’t be where I am at today if it wasn’t for everyone that has supported me and continues to support me. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I have definitely faced struggles as it is hard to be the sole decision-maker and having to do everything in a business. From being the service provider, booking appointments, answering messages, putting in inventory orders, and etc. If problems arise, I am the one that has to fix issues to the best of my ability and learn as I go. I have faced having to learn multi-management skills with balancing to manage Detroit Lashes, being a full-time college student, and a personal/social life.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The most important thing to us is our clients. Our goal is always to make our clients feel as comfortable as possible in the care of us by providing a safe environment. With this, we have been able to create a bond and loyalty with our clients.
