Meet Herman Grewal of 2B Studio/Osmows Mediterranean

Today we’d like to introduce you to Herman Grewal.

Hi Herman, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
With a strong background in finance and a lifelong passion for business, Herman Grewal began his entrepreneurial journey early and diving into the world of franchising at a young age. After building and successfully exiting multiple ventures, Herman established himself as a serial entrepreneur with a keen eye for identifying growth opportunities and scaling established brands.

That entrepreneurial drive led him to acquire 2B Studio, an established product development firm based in Grand Rapids. Under his leadership, 2B Studio continues to excel, helping clients innovate, refine, and bring new products to market with precision and creativity.

In addition to his work in product development, Herman has returned to his franchising roots by partnering with Osmow’s Mediterranean, a rapidly growing national restaurant brand. He is currently leading the expansion of Osmow’s presence throughout Michigan, applying his proven expertise in franchise operations, market growth, and strategic development.

Driven by a balance of financial insight and creative vision, Herman continues to build, scale, and invest in businesses that create value and opportunity across industries

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road, but every challenge along the way taught me something valuable. Early in my career, stepping into franchising at a young age meant learning through real-world experience rather than formal training. I had to quickly understand everything from operations and financing to managing people, marketing aspects, and building a brand. There were moments of uncertainty, tight budgets, and the constant pressure of making the right decisions for both growth and sustainability. Overall, I always focused the long term goals.

Transitioning from franchising to product development brought a new learning curve. Acquiring 2B Studio meant stepping into an already established company and earning the trust of a seasoned team while modernizing systems and scaling operations. Balancing creativity with business discipline wasn’t easy, but it’s been rewarding and fulfilling.

Even today, challenges don’t disappear, they just evolve. Whether it’s navigating shifting markets, recruiting the right people, or managing multiple ventures at once, the key has always been adaptability, persistence, and surrounding myself with great teams. Every obstacle has ultimately shaped the way I lead and grow businesses today

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At 2B Studio, we’re passionate about transforming ideas into tangible products that make an impact. Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, we’re a product development and design firm that helps brands from startups to established companies bring their concepts to life. Our team specializes in industrial design, engineering, and manufacturing support, guiding clients from early-stage ideation through to production and launch. What truly sets us apart is our ability to merge creative design thinking with real-world business strategy, ensuring every product isn’t just well-designed, but also commercially viable.

I’m incredibly proud of how 2B Studio has evolved. Since acquiring the company, we’ve built on its strong foundation while expanding capabilities and modernizing how we collaborate with clients. Our reputation has grown through long-term partnerships, innovative thinking, and a relentless focus on quality. We take pride in being problem-solvers and helping brands overcome challenges and bring meaningful products to market faster and smarter.

On the other side of my entrepreneurial journey is Osmow’s Mediterranean, one of North America’s fastest-growing Mediterranean restaurant brands. I’m leading the brand’s expansion throughout Michigan, applying my background in franchising to build strong franchisee partnerships and deliver a consistent, high-quality guest experience. Osmow’s is known for its fresh, flavorful food, its modern take on traditional Mediterranean cuisine, and its community-driven growth model.

What sets both ventures apart is a shared philosophy: a dedication to quality, innovation, and people. Whether it’s designing a product or growing a restaurant brand, we focus on creating real value through collaboration, trust, and a passion for doing things the right way.

Ultimately, what I want readers to know is that both 2B Studio and Osmow’s Michigan represent more than just business ventures, they’re about building brands that last, supporting communities, and bringing ideas to life in meaningful ways

How do you think about luck?
I’ve always believed that luck plays a role and do consider myself lucky. But it only matters if you’re prepared to recognize it and act on it. I’ve had moments in my career where timing and opportunity lined up perfectly, but they only turned into something meaningful because I was willing to take a risk and put in the work.

When I was young and getting into franchising, I didn’t have all the answers, but I had drive and curiosity. The “luck” came from meeting the right people and learning from the right experiences at the right time, but the success came from following through. The same goes for acquiring 2B Studio. The opportunity presented itself because I stayed active in business networks and kept my eyes open for the right fit. Some might call it good fortune; I see it as being ready when opportunity knocks.

Of course, there have always been times when things didn’t go as planned and what some would call bad luck. But even those moments have taught me valuable lessons about resilience, leadership, and patience. I’ve learned that setbacks are part of every entrepreneur’s journey, and often, what feels like bad luck in the moment ends up redirecting you toward something better in the long run. I would also like to contribute much of my “luck” to my strong family and supportive wife, who has always been on my side even with the insane moves, travel, and business arrangements I put them through.

So yes, luck has played a part but preparation, persistence, and mindset have made all the difference
