Meet Heat Above

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heat Above. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Jack (bass player) and Brady (drummer) met through a mutual musician friend for a jam session and immediately hit it off. From there, they reached out to Jack’s brother, Michael, who was a guitar player, and another guitar player (Nate) and formed a band called Sleepwalker. 

Sleepwalker played lots of local bars and venues for about a year until Nate left the band to attend college. At that point, the band changed the name to Heat Above and adopted a more alternative style of music. 

Since then, Heat Above has recorded and released an EP and two singles. We continue to perform music most weekends and continue to write and record original songs. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been a relatively smooth process for us. Every band at this level faces the uncertainty of playing for 100 people one night and five people the next. Our biggest challenge has been doing our best to captivate every audience with our music and be as versatile as possible. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We’re an alternative/pop-rock band. We’re known for our high-energy live performances. One of things that sets us apart is we are very young compared to most bands we come across. Our guitar player is still in high school, and the other two members are just out of high school. We’re most proud of our music and how it translates to a live setting. Every song we write is written mindful of how it will translate to a live audience. 

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Brady – After seeing the Justin Bieber documentary, I locked myself in my room and sang along to all of Justin Bieber’s songs, imagining I was in front of a huge crowd.
