Meet Hanan Jaffar of Detroit Halal Eats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanan Jaffar.

Hi Hanan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always appreciated good food presentation, photography, and cooking. I started Detroit Halal Eats about 4 years ago because every time I want to look for something to eat, I would be on Instagram trying to find something that looks good. That’s when I decided to have my own page because I wanted to showcase beautifully presented food that not only look good but also taste good. In the beginning, I wasn’t very active on my page, but since the start of Covid, I’ve been posting almost every day and have grown my page, and have met awesome people while being on this journey. Before I became a nurse, I actually went to culinary school to pursue my love of food and became a pastry chef.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, it’s been pretty smooth. Some of the struggles I’ve is trying to find time while still having a full-time profession to go to all of these places that I would get invited to.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So, I started of doing this page for fun, but as it grew, many business and restaurants owners encouraged me to create a media kit with pricing because content creating and visiting places can be very time-consuming. I’ve even had a few brands reach out to me for brand deals. What sets me apart from other food bloggers in the area would definitely be my creativity. Not only am I a halal food guide, I’m also a content creator.

My love of food and art together has made me create a platform where I can showcase both. I strive to make the best content I possibly can, and love when I can use my creativity to create an amazing reel! I am based in the metro Detroit area but often travel to other states to try to find the best halal food spots there are. I’ve always created a guide section with different states and places I’ve visited to help my followers navigate to find the best halal spots whether they live in a different state, or if they’re visiting a different state.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel like being genuine and really loving what you do is really important and brings success. I believe in working together and collaborating with others helps you become more successful.
