Meet Emily Dodds of Traverse City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Dodds

Hi Emily, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was determined to create a life of perseverance and possibilities for my son and me. The bond we shared became my driving force, pushing me to pursue an education in business and nursing, knowing that I wanted to build something meaningful our family.

Seven years ago, I started Immaculate Home as a side gig, and it soon became the main character in my story. The idea was simple: I needed to buy back a couple of hours of support every week, but that support had to evolve as my needs changed. Some weeks, I needed help with errands, others with cleaning, stocking the fridge, or meal delivery. What I needed most was reliable support from someone I could trust.

That’s the heart of Immaculate Home. We don’t just provide services; we make it personal. We’re a small brand making a big difference, helping families buy back time through a one-stop-shop service that adapts to their unique needs.

Now, I’m excited to be in the startup phase of NESTWELL, where I’m bringing these personalized services into the corporate world as an employee benefit. It’s all about making life easier for working families, giving them back the time and energy to enjoy the moments that matter most.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth. When I was 20, Dylan was born, and I was a college dropout. But he became my motivation for everything. I raised him alone, worked full-time, and went back to college three times, earning degrees in cosmetology, business, and nursing. while also building a business. It was lonely, hard, and full of anxiety, but it also taught me the value of using hard things as a driving force.

Raising Dylan has been the highlight of my life. I’d like to think my journey shows that it’s possible to create a life you’re proud of, even when it’s tough. Now, Dylan’s 18 and living the college life in North Carolina, and I’m figuring out what this new version of my life looks like. Nothing will ever top being Dylan’s mom, but this next chapter will be pretty special, too.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work with Immaculate Home revolves around offering steadfast support for individuals and families who want to invest their financial resources in reclaiming their time. We specialize in two key areas:

Customized Support: Each client undergoes a thorough process that starts with a consultation and a time audit. We assess their pain points and categorize tasks based on a joy scale, outsourcing those tasks that detract from joy to alleviate their burdens. This meticulous approach allows us to handle the details, so clients can come home and know that everything on their to-do list is completed.

Expert Cleaning and Personal Service: We offer highly detailed and expertly trained cleaning and restoration practices. Our clients can relax knowing that their home is in capable hands. Additionally, we assign specific account managers to each client, meaning the same associate takes care of all their needs every time. This consistency makes our service personal and ensures that we truly understand and meet their unique needs.

I’m most proud of how Immaculate Home has grown into a trusted partner for families, providing them with the freedom to enjoy their time without the stress of managing a never-ending list of tasks.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Traverse City is the incredible entrepreneurial spirit that seems to buzz through the city. There’s something almost magical about the people who come here—it’s like the community has a special energy.

I really don’t have any major dislikes about Traverse City; it’s a wonderful place. If I had to choose one thing I’d love to see, it would be a bit more diversity in the community. And, on a lighter note, maybe a Nordstrom would be a nice addition—just a little touch of luxury to complement the city’s charm!
