Meet Elijah Eubanks of Clarkston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Eubanks

Hi Elijah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started making music when I was 15 years old. I taught myself how to use GarageBand and from there I created a few songs that I later released under the stage name E-Kaine. I started screwing around in life, and I started using drugs. It wasn’t until I was 17 years old that I started using heroin and from there the next eight years of my life was just that; running around and getting high. In 2022 I found out that I was going to be having a son and that turned my life around. I got sober, I started attending college classes at the Los Angeles film school online, My degree was in music production. At the very start of my classes, when I received all of the equipment that school was sending me for my degree, Immediately I started recording and making music. A year later in 2023 I started putting music onto SoundCloud, Saved up enough money to buy a subscription plan for SoundCloud to be my distributor, and I started distributing my music across all streaming platforms. After a huge ordeal with my baby mama, I had to stop making music for a couple months because I had to move on from her and move out of my house and it wasn’t until I got set up with my family that I started making music again. I only created a couple of singles, Before my life took A huge turn! I found out that my children were in a dangerous situation, and I had to begin the fight for custody of my kids, which took up a lot, if not most of my time. After the custody battle and I was granted full custody, I started hitting the studio more than I ever did before and I came out with my very first EP, “Let Me In”. Currently, I am working on my debut album that is going to take you on a journey through The reality of addiction and the pain it causes not just the people around you, but to the addict themselves. I’m hoping to work with a nonprofit organization that is addiction and recovery based so that I can try to raise some money off of my album sales in order to go back into the community to help the people that haven’t recovered yet. Everyone has a purpose on this earth and I believe mine is to help the broken, The hopeless, and the Outcasts.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been smooth at all. It’s been extremely difficult. I’ve received a lot of hate for my music and for myself in general because people don’t see the whole story they only see what they’re told and what they’re told is what they believe. I can’t change the mind of people, All I can do is keep on going forward. Other challenges I’ve faced are monetary, being able to raise the funds to be able to continue recording on new beats and to be able to get graphic design done for my cover art, and then of course, being able to distribute my music; all of it takes money and when I’m only making $20-$30 every quarter off of my music, it doesn’t really give me a lot to work with. So I have to do what I have to do, Which is keep grinding keep putting it out there as long as I stay true to my mission, I believe that all good things will come in time.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a musician, Mainly in the hip-hop genre. I am open to doing other kinds of genres and mashing them up. My newest single, “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” featuring Krayzie Bone is set to drop on August 9th and it has elements of heavy metal, such as the high-pitched screams in the hook. I’m still early in my career. I Specialize in fast rap, Known as chopping. My music has a darker tone to it at least some of it does, My latest EP that I released has more mainstream vibes to it and that was intentional to try to gain more fans because people nowadays are into the mainstream and it’s connected to everybody. The main type of music that I listen to, and would like to make, like the $uicideboy$, Is dark music about everything in life that causes pain and agony and putting it out there because at one point or another everybody has felt these feelings and had most of these thoughts. I like to make music on these topics because music has always helped me whether I’m depressed, angry, or happy, music has brought me peace. Having a support system is important. For us that are broken we may never be able to put ourselves back together, However, that doesn’t mean we have to do all of this alone. My music is a way for people like me to stick together and hopefully realize that you’re worth whatever you think you are. The thing that sets me apart from most artists that you hear on the radio or otherwise is my dedication to the people that support me. At this stage of my career, I may not be able to offer anything like, free merch or anything like that but, I do make sure I shout out my supporters as often as I can to let them know I appreciate them. Another thing that differentiates me from others is that with my music, if I can change or save someone’s life through a song; like if there’s a line that clicks with someone and something just happens for the better, that would mean more to me than all the money in the world.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice to people starting out is keep going! Don’t stop just because you hit a roadblock. Keep driving down the road and eventually you’ll reach success. You gotta see past the shadows in the fog. Don’t look behind you, nothing that you’ve encountered in the past has anything to do with where you’re headed for your future. No mistake is too great to give up on what you love!
