Meet Eboni Pullins of Eboni Beauty / CEO Mobile Beauty Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eboni Pullins.

Eboni, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out in the hair industry as a “Braider” out of my studio apartment in downtown Detroit in 2015. At that time it was a side hustle as I pursued other creative pursuits. My talent seemed to pull me in further into the industry than I had anticipated—clients were asking for me to cut their hair, give them a Big Chops, and just all all round made requests that I was not technically trained for. By late summer of 2016 I was enrolled in Cosmetology. I graduated with my cosmetology degree from Douglas at Aveda in Ann Arbor, MI in July 2017. It was a life changing experience and one that was met with many challenges and heartbreak. During my time in school, I was completely dedicated with only enough time to work my 20 hour week retail job at Sally Beauty. I had to move home with my dad. My once reliable car completely broke down unexpectedly 2-3 months shy of graduation. I experienced the death of my elder brother Darryl a month before graduation. Through all the suffering I experienced during that season, I had never been so dedicated in my life. I was committed to finish. I left school with a job offer at a natural hair salon out of a Ypsilanti, Original Moxie. It was there that I grew most in my craft and built up a following and clientele base. After 5 years, I left my role as lead stylist and a brand educator for the company, to start my first business as a licensed cosmetologist. Eboni Beauty Studio was established in 2021, 6 months after birthing my first daughter. 3 years later, April 2024, I launched CEO Mobile Beauty Salon after purchasing my first shuttle bus and converting it to a luxury salon. It is a apart of a growing fleet of Mobile salon and barbshop (CEO Cuts est 2020) in partnership with my husband “Al the Barber”. After a combined 6 in the mobile service industry we have met the need of Convenient Efficient and Optimum service in the hair industry. Our clientele looks like the busy high level entrepreneur, mom on maternity leave, an elder who is looking for a home based experience, or the sick and shut in. We meet a need that the traditional salon/barber space wasn’t built to and the response has been overwhelming! What started as just a “hustle” has been fueled by the knowledge that we help inspire, encourage and bring ease to the clients we are called to serve.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
See previous response. In addition: The road has been met with many challenges. Particularly in this season of raising small children (ranging from 5.5, 2.5, and another on the way) I have to juggle between my various priorities. I’ve learned that it’s not about balancing it all because every day and the demands that come with it differ. It’s about being present and showing up the best I can to each demand as they come. Family is my number one priority while also being the driving force to be the best business owner and showing up boldly in service of others. I want to be an example to my daughters that you can follow your dreams while still making room for the people that matter most.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Eboni Beauty / CEO Mobile Beauty Studio?
I am a natural hair salon owner, stylist and educator. I am known for providing high quality education to every client that sits in my chair from consultation – to styling. I love encouraging my clients to fall in love with the hair God has given them and how to treat it well. I strive to provide a calm and relaxing retreat away from everything outside the walls of my space that they leave feeling confident and reassured. I’m most proud that my clients are my walking build board and word of mouth has remained KING for my business as far as marketing and advertising goes, I offer personalized Beauty Memberships to encourage more frequent visits to the salon, which has led to more opportunities to educate, see results and beautiful testimonies.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe luck plays in any part in my life or business. I am a woman of faith and principle. I believe that when you are diligent and intentional you will see the results of your labor. I don’t take the opportunities that I have had the privilege to receive lightly. While I know that I work hard, I was led into this industry at 25 years not by happenstance but by the Lord. I was created for this work, for this time.
