Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, I’m Diamond. I started doing makeup back in 2019. I’ve always had a love for the arts and all things beauty. I was never a big self care person myself but I believed in uplifting other people. Since being in the beauty industry, I started to find myself falling in love with more than just Makeup. September ‘24 is when I decided to start my esthetician career. I plan to specialize in Makeup, Waxing, and Facial services.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being in the beauty industry for 5 years was not always a smooth road. I faced many challenges, one of my biggest was giving birth to my son during Covid. The world as a whole had stopped and so did my business.

One thing that’s not broadcast about this journey is that slow seasons are a thing. Booked and busy is not always achievable but that just leaves time for growth! The beauty industry is ever changing.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a freelance makeup artist. I specialize in natural and soft glam looks for any occasion. I’ve done makeup for Detroit films, fashion shows, weddings, birthdays, homecoming’s, proms, and more! I feel that my ability to enhance your natural beauty is what sets me aside from others. In this ever changing industry, being able to adapt is very important. There are many styles of makeup therefore it’s important to find your niche.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My support system deserves the biggest recognition. My family (cousins) would let me practice on them in the bathroom when I first got started. Due to my growth I was able to be their MUA for their high-school events. They were also my first models for my first photoshoot.

My mother is who pushed me to attend esthetician school. Education is really important to my family and she saw the potential I held from my makeup. I don’t know how I would be able to take this journey without her support and helping with my son.
