Hi Denise, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Being a Registered Nurse for over 20 years and losing my father to sudden cardiac arrest, I know first-hand the importance of knowing CPR. In 2019 I founded Healing Hearts Safety Services. We offer CPR, AED, First Aid, and other life-sustaining skills. As Healing Hearts Safety Services have grown over the last couple years, so have the services we offer, such as Basic Life support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Active Shooter training, Babysitting courses, and Narcan training. We serve clients in the Metro Detroit Area who require or want to learn life sustaining skills. Unlike some of our competitors, we understand the importance of meeting each student where they are and personalize their training sessions to ensure that they are confident to perform the skills that they learned.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Healing Hearts Safety Services opened its doors three days before covid came and shut down our state for over a month. By the grace of God, we were able to sustain and keep our business during this time. It was at that time that I knew Healing Hearts Safety Services was here to stay.
Not knowing all the ins and outs of a business, I had to learn things along the way, some that I should have done before opening the business. I since have had the opportunity to take business courses with TRamsey and Associates, which has flourished my business in multiple ways.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been A Registered Nurse for twenty-one years. I have had the opportunity to work in multiple areas of nursing. I currently work as a full-time Nursing Supervisor at Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital. I’m also the owner and operator of Healing Hearts Safety Services.
More than 350,000 hearts attacks happen outside of the hospital a year. With the increase in Mass shootings, the continued rise of the Opoid pandemic, and the increased violence that is happening continues to make me strive to teach everyone life-sustaining skills…
My experience as a Nurse and the personalized training I offer sets me apart from other CPR Instructors.
I’m most proud of myself for continuing to make a difference in my community and teaching others how to do the same.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Anyone looking to start a business in the Pontiac or surrounding areas should join TRamsey’s business courses. Her passion for helping small businesses is one of a kind. Research your product or service, know your target audience, and develop a plan. Join your local Regional Chamber and attend all of the networking opportunities you can, such as vendor events, pop ups, city council meetings, and social media events. You have to network with just about any and everyone.
