Today we’d like to introduce you to Darnetta Anderson.
Hi Darnetta, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a little girl, I always dreamt of owning my own store and becoming a Fashion Designer. In school, I studied art, fashion design, and merchandising. Fashion design was my curriculum at Cass Tech High School and Wayne State University. After finishing school, I was a multi-store manager. Managing 3 retail stores and one time… I managed the store over 15 yrs. In the time I married and had 2 children. In 2017 all of my stores closed their doors and I was also going through a divorce. I knew that I enjoyed customers, fashion, and retail but I was scared to manage another store that may close as well. I started creating Custom Baskets and soon after made a small business out of it. It tapped into my creative side and also gave me peace during my difficult time of divorcing. I was still missing the other part of my joy which was fashion. I had seen people creating mobile food trucks and I thought it would be cool to create a mobile boutique. I began searching for trucks. My brother found a bus and it fit my idea perfect. I began during the pandemic building online clientele while I started working on the bus and making it my own. Fast forward to today business is going great. I’m continuously building my customer base, Networking with others, and can’t wait to see what the future holds! The bus is called Darnetta’s Boutique LLC.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggles are the pandemic… limiting customers to shop, limiting events I attend. I have been able to direct customers to shop directly from my website which has worked out great. www.darnettasmobileboutique.com
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
