Meet Common Molly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Common Molly. 

Hello Common Molly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Brock and Thomas picked up their instruments shortly after graduating high school, eventually venturing out to start a band. At the time it seemed like an impossible task, as we lacked experience and any connection to the real working music world. So, we practiced and practiced, and eventually one random day we ran into Fish, our current singer at the skate park. We had as much music in common as we did not, which really contributed to our sound today. Shortly after we found our drummer Zeke who we also found at the skate park. Zeke is the key part on making us the powerhouse we are now, being a strong reliable drummer to drive the music to where it needs to go. Since then, with the four forces we have, we’ve pushed and pushed to make this band the best WE can be. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been easy. Being born in the pandemic, deaths of close friends, to just keeping the lights on. To put on a show was never the problem, the most trialing times were the in-betweens. Our first song was derived from the death of one of our closest friends. Without her we wouldn’t be here.

Our unique, eclectic style separates us from other bands. We all have different influences and taste and we embrace that. 

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Find your local mic night and go play. Ask as many questions as you can. If you put on a good show, you will get gigs.
