Today we’d like to introduce you to CJ Nwabuike.
Hi CJ, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My entrepreneurial journey began as a mobile notary, but the foundation was laid long before that. I grew up watching my mother run her own business, and her example instilled in me a deep desire to build something of my own. Even when I held jobs with promising futures, I never felt fulfilled. I knew I was meant to create, not simply clock in.
I started by driving to clients to notarize documents, and that very first signing changed everything. The experience sparked a momentum I couldn’t ignore—it brought me genuine joy. As I continued meeting clients in different places and taking on loan signings and mortgage closings, I discovered how versatile the notary profession truly is. A notary public can wear many hats: building inspector, accident appraiser, signing agent, fingerprint technician, process server, and more.
Among all these paths, fingerprinting stood out. I became fascinated with the field and began studying it in depth, exploring every possible way to enter and excel in the industry.
Throughout this process, my partner, April, played a pivotal role. Her vision shaped much of the business’s design and direction. In the early days, we operated under the name Notary Etcetera LLC, but we quickly realized it was too generic and didn’t reflect the identity or caliber of the brand we were building. That realization pushed us to create something more intentional—something with meaning, distinction, and purpose.
That name became iPrecari.
A business name carries power. It sets the tone, defines the standard, and communicates who you are before you ever speak. In my culture, the Igbo people say, “A good name is better than gold.” That belief guided us. iPrecari is more than a brand—it is a statement of identity, integrity, and excellence.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has not been without struggle. In the early months of building this business, my partner and I opened our doors at 7 a.m. and didn’t close until 7 p.m. We quickly learned that in this industry, the people who truly need your services will find you—no matter the hour. That insight led us to adjust our schedule to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., allowing us to operate more efficiently while still meeting the needs of our clients.
There were months when the numbers fell short of expectations. Those are the moments that test your resolve. Do you quit? Do you question everything? For us, the answer was no. Today, I look back on those seasons with gratitude because they built our resilience. God has been faithful, and His grace carried us through times when the path felt uncertain.
During the slow periods, Square Financial became a critical partner. They give small businesses a real opportunity—if you prove yourself. Their loans and credit options helped us navigate the challenges of cash‑flow‑dependent work. When business is slow, it is truly slow, but the bills never slow down. Having that support made a meaningful difference.
This field also brings its share of trials. You encounter people who may try to push you into situations that could jeopardize everything you’ve worked for. The lesson is simple and unwavering: always do the right thing. Integrity is non‑negotiable. In business—and in life—your name is your reputation, and protecting it is essential.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a community servant, author, business owner, and father, committed to serving with purpose and integrity. I am widely recognized for leading a trusted fingerprinting and compliance business, and I am proud to be part of a community rich in values, resilience, and untapped potential.
What truly sets me apart is the foundation I stand on. I bring every decision before God first and anchor my actions in His principles. These values guide me to lead with honesty, fairness, and a genuine desire to make a meaningful impact. They shape the way I serve, the way I build, and the way I show up for the people who rely on me.
Any big plans?
I am a co‑founder of Malachi’s House of Hope, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families whose children are born with Heterotaxy Syndrome, a rare congenital condition that affects approximately 1 in 1,000 babies worldwide. Our mission is to stand beside these families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives by providing essential services such as transportation to and from medical appointments, temporary housing during extended hospital stays, emotional support, and meals.
As part of our commitment to raising awareness and strengthening community support, we are hosting our First Annual Heterotaxy Awareness 2‑Mile Walk on May 4th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at The AMP Theater in Downtown Brighton, Michigan. This date is officially recognized as Heterotaxy Syndrome Awareness Day, making it a meaningful moment for our community to come together, learn, and advocate.
The walk is designed to educate the public about Heterotaxy Syndrome, honor the families affected, and build a network of support around them. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where many of these children receive life‑saving care. Looking ahead, we are also working toward establishing dedicated Heterotaxy Syndrome research at the University of Michigan to advance understanding, treatment, and hope for future families.
