Today we’d like to introduce you to CienTell .
CienTell, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out with a passion for dance & creative writing so I went to Oakland Community College in Royal Oak, Mi and graduated with a Liberal Arts Degree in 2005. I went off to pursue a career in dance & modeling so I started working on a nationally-syndicated tv show called Dance Party in Pontiac, Mi. It was on WADL TV 38 & I was well-known for a few years. Eventually, I started to elevate as a dancer/choreographer and started working with Aretha Franklin before her passing, ArtlabJ Dance Company, and recording artist Tunde Olaniran. I gained much experience in the entertainment industry and decided to venture off into the music industry in 2010. I recorded mixtapes, sold them independently, and continued on as a music artist independently. Currently, I’m distributing music on iTunes, Apple Music, and my music streams on Spotify and VEVO. I have performed in live shows in Philadelphia and Detroit. I’m continuously living my career as a singer-songwriter and producer.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The one thing I struggled with as an entertainer was the lack of confidence & fear of success. I knew where I wanted to be in life, yet was afraid to achieve it. I had worked with so many artists and seen what they went through as far as with music production, touring and promotions, that I didn’t think I was good enough. So now as an artist, I owned up to my true talents and had to accept the responsibilities that can along with it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer-songwriter and producer in the genres of R&B/Pop. I produce my own instrumentals as well as work with other producers. I write my own songs and for other artists. My overall passion is songwriting and I use that skill to inspire, as well as motivate people through my music. There aren’t a lot of artists that make music to bring peace and happiness and I decided to become of the few to make a change in today’s music.
What do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is doing what I love and being able to share my work with others. When I hear others compliment me on my music and are willing to listen to it, as well as attend my shows and buy my music, that makes me truly happy. When I see my (2) daughters dancing to my music and hear them singing along, that is what motivates me to keep going.
