Meet Christina Stroman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Stroman. 

Christina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been braiding since the age of 12. I was motivated by my older sister who was practicing in the cosmetology field. My sister would keep my hair braided and my hair was always the main attraction. I soon became a self-taught braider that would braid adults and kids’ hair in my neighborhood and beyond. Hair is something that I would fall in and out of love with. I’ve worked in several different professions and hair was something I would always find myself back doing hair. It wasn’t until September 2019 that I decided I would take the chance I’ve never taken and braid hair full time and I’ve never been happier 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wanted to be a wig maker but my wig-making skill set was not up to par to attract the amount of clientele I needed to make a living so I satisfied the demand of the people. I accepted the fact that I was a braider reluctantly and everything started to fall in place. As I braided adults’ hair, they would explain to me how hard it was to find a kid braider and I would gladly create a new appointment for their child. I became a kid braider by default and that’s when I discovered my passion for braids. Being creative and using colors and designs have created a new love for my craft 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a creative kid braider. I specialize in design braids with unique colors, shapes, and accessories. I’m one of few braiders that service kids and adults. I’m also one of few braiders that braids designs such as numbers, shapes, with bright unique colors. 

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see myself retiring from braiding full-time within the next 3-5 years and I see myself selling out stores with my innovative pro duo and hair tools. I plan on manifesting wealth through investments, partnerships, new businesses ventures that concern my passions & interest. Health is wealth so my overall well-being is what I will continue to manifest and prioritize
