Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlie Castañeda
Hi Charlie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My fascination with History or knowledge of the American Presidents started when I was in 5th grade when I picked up a book from the school’s library about our country’s commander in chiefs and learned everything about them. I learned and memorized the order they were elected presidents, what they look like from their official portraits, their births and death dates, their wives (First Ladies), all by the age of 12. In my middle school days, I learned mostly about Jamestown and Texas History, but I always was fascinated about Abraham Lincoln, I knew his story by heart. I didn’t got into much history during Highschool (I was a kid and into Comic books), except reading intense stories about Lincoln’s and JFK’s assassinations.
After graduation, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study or what I wanted to be, I had to work to stay on my feet. I was figuring out myself, figuring out what to be in the world. A few years ago, I got back into President related history, collecting dollar coins with their faces, learned about their stories, their accomplishments, learned about their children, and wanted to make a career out of it.
I posted all over the internet with my knowledge of history, Tik Tok, Facebook, Instagram, but didn’t make much audience. Until a few months ago, I was at my apartment, starving, No A/C, barely had enough for the rent, lost, heading nowhere in life, (Thank God I wasn’t depressed or on Substance Abuse).
At that time, on October of 2024, I had 10 subscribers on YouTube, and with a stroke of luck and a prayer, that’s when my Historical facts about Presidents started to pick up and getting noticed. My channel grew and grew, my audience were tuned in, my dream is about to come true soon in 2025. I would love to make more shorts and posts on YouTube and Instagram. I want to Travel the country, and the world for my love of history, learn more from books, maybe finish college, (we’ll see)
As of right now, I have 306 YouTube subscribers and growing. Even my Instagram page grew views and followers.
I can’t imagine my life right now if I had never picked up a library book
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only main challenge was figuring out what am I going to be, (I’m also a comic book artist) but I also knew that I needed a real career or a back up plan.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Presidential Historian, I learn everything I can from books, websites, documentaries. I love watching films on any historical topic. Every American President has a unique story that is fascinating to get into or related to. I want to travel the country and visit every Presidential library and read their best books, visit their museums, their homes, graves, collect memorabilia. I love learning about their life before, during, and after their time in office. Biggest accomplishment so far, is my growing YouTube channel.
What does success mean to you?
Success, in my view, is going through hunger (Literally and Figuratively), going through failure over and over, getting beaten down of life’s hardship, overcoming personal problems. Making it to the top, just for yourself. Becoming stronger than you were before, physically and mentally.
