Today we’d like to introduce you to CASSIE TACKETT.
Hi CASSIE, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I always loved photography/visuals & how when they’re done well + with a great story.. there really isn’t a way to measure the impact that can have on people. Until I reached my 30’s I had always felt a bit misunderstood – & photography was a way for me to express my inner world – without words.
It has been a long, rewarding & risky journey.. but I would choose this path over and over again. I think my favorite parallel with myself + my business is that is directly tied to my personal growth. This career has brought me so much growth and has exposed me to so many places + people. Grateful is an understatement.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It most certainly has not been smooth! I have been so scared at times. 2020 is enough to give me war flash backs. Not to say that I don’t love the journey, it has been the joy of my life.
I would say other than a global pandemic, a reoccurring struggle I had to overcome was my mental health/self image. Running a business and building a brand off of your art and passion is a very vulnerable, risky and enduring process. Facing life’s challenges, self doubt, grief, etc; it can be a lot to manage it all when you’re the one responsible for it all. You have to hold yourself up. This career has made me so resilient and open to change in myself and in my circumstance. I wouldn’t undo a single hardship if it meant I could be where/who I am now.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I would say most of the feedback I get is how I am able to capture emotion in a cinematic way. Real moments that translate into beautiful images – that make you feel something.
I am very proud of the care and intention I put into everything that I do. I care deeply about my clients and that they feel properly represented.
Photography is such a vulnerable thing. I feel my ability to make others feel seen/heard without judgment is one of my greatest strengths and allows space for incredible images with purpose.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Take the risk, compare you, to you, keep your mental health in check & most importantly – be yourself.
You are the only thing unique about your business typically. What you deliver to the table, your voice, your eye.. listen to your own intuition.
Dont operate from comparison or what is trendy.. always stay true to your tastes and vision. It is uniquely yours for a reason.
The world needs your experience, essence and stories. Not just your interpretations.
