Meet Carlton Black of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlton Black.

Hi Carlton, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been doing poetry since grade school. Always had a passion for music but didn’t first touch the mic until I was 18. After a short lived career with a group called Yff, I left making songs alone because of life issues. I eventually started back at 23 and I haven’t looked back since. Music keeps me grounded, it’s therapeutic for me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I developed a mental disorder. At 25 I was diagnosed and I struggled with it for a while before I got a handle on it

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My musical abilities. I’m able to not only write great songs, but perform them as well. I’ve written and recorded over a hundred songs at this point with them all being a different experience from the last.

How do you define success?
I define success as going through with something you say your going to do and accomplishing goals along the way.
