Meet Cameo And Josh Arias of Bellaire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameo And Josh Arias.

Hi Cameo and Josh, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We are originally from Reno, NV. This is where we raised our twin daughters. They both left the area for college so we took that opportunity to sell everything we owned (businesses, and house) to purchase a campground in Northern Michigan. Prior to leaving Reno we had raised our daughters camping every weekend, This is a part of who we are. Our campground is seasonal so we take the opportunity in the cold winter months to travel in our RV. This also allows us to keep up with the industry and see what other campgrounds are doing and what is trending.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think buying or even starting a business ever a smooth road.
When we bought the campground, we knew there was some deferred maintenance and that the place would need a little extra care. Of course, it’s never quite what you expect. Over time, we’ve made a lot of changes to the property to make it run more smoothly and to create a better experience for both us and our guests.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Before leaving Reno, we both ran personal care businesses—massage, barbering, and a nail salon—but our true passion was always travel. While raising our daughters, we took every school break and holiday as an opportunity to hit the road in our RV and explore the country. Those adventures made it clear: this was the life we belonged to.

The challenge was finding a way to embrace that lifestyle while still making a living. Purchasing the campground gave us the perfect balance. It allows us to share our love of travel, connect with fellow campers, and swap stories with people from all walks of life. When the campground closes for the winter, we set out in our motorhome to journey across the U.S. and Mexico. Along the way, we meet incredible people—and often, our paths cross again down the road or even back at the campground.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
We feel incredibly fortunate to have been welcomed so warmly into our community. Becoming active members of the local Chamber of Commerce has given us the opportunity to build connections, network, and get to know other businesses in the area. Beyond that, we’ve developed friendships with fellow campground owners and make it a point to meet up every few months. These gatherings are a chance to share advice, exchange ideas, and strengthen the bonds that make this industry so rewarding.
