Today we’d like to introduce you to Bree Frye
Hi Bree, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Bree Frye aka BreeNotAComedian aka EmceeBree aka BrandedByBree bka Mommy and I am what you would consider a serial entrepreneur having multiple growing businesses. First and foremost I am a single mom to a beautiful 7 year old princess who is my reason for being and going as hard as I do (shout out to my mommy baby Harlyn Brielle!) I graduated from EMU with my Bachelor of Science in Communications with a double minor in Marketing and Electronic Media which inspired me to open my own branding and marketing agency, BF Marketing Agency, where I assist business owners with their business branding, management and marketing strategies. I own and operate a residential (and soon to be expanding to commercial) cleaning company called Just Breeze Cleaning & Organizing. I also create custom graphic tees and outfits through my t-shirt shop The BFly Shop. Last but certainly not least, I am a stand up comedian, event emcee, content creator, online brand ambassador and podcast host for my podcast Misfit Moms Unscripted.
If you ask me what I am most passionate about I will tell you every last one of these things! At the end of the day my main goal is to use as many of my gifts as possible to build lucrative income so that I may create not only generational wealth but even job opportunities and stability within my family and community. Therefore, it is so important to me that all of my endeavors thrive to their greatest potential.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing up I faced a lot of instability and just overall chaos BUT I was always well taken care of and got anything that I needed and wanted. I’ve learned to turn my past traumas into my now purpose and that ‘no’ just means find another way. My life may appear chaotic to some but that’s because I had to recognize and accept that is where I learned to thrive most. So my once traumatic chaos is now my organized productive chaos. I learned to appreciate and find the positives in my instability. Moving schools a lot taught me to be able to interact with all kinds of people and crowds. As a bonus I also know so many great people from all walks of life. My energy is big and I have the ability to adapt to any room I’m put in like a chameleon and I’m grateful for that because it is truly a gift. However, my biggest gift of all is being able to make others laugh and feel good even while dealing with my own struggles and pain because laughter is truly what got me through so much of my pain and medicine for the soul.
Growing up I was forced to clean ALOT 1) as a form of punishment 2) because my mom has OCD and issues with germs lol and 3) my youngest sister has sickle cell so we had to keep everything pretty clean. As much as I had to clean growing up, this feels like money that is just owed to me! lol
I am so appreciative to God for my journey in life because the older that I get the more that it all begins to makes sense as to why I went through some of things that I did. Without a test there is no testimony and I have been able to gain knowledge from every obstacle that I had to overcome and can share those real life experiences through my comedy and platforms.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Currently I am most known for being a social media influencer with multiple viral videos starting with my infamous “Tree Me Please” video which in short was a video where I was venting about the every day struggles of being a woman and how next lifetime I’d like to be a tree. That video went viral all over the world two years ago and has grown my platforms in ways that I could never imagine. I have received celebrity recognition, started stand up comedy and opened 3 sold out shows for influencer EJ Speaks. I became an event host/emcee and have been able to use my platform to promote and collab with local and major brands.
This year though, you can expect me to be outsideeeee! I’m craving the stage and crowd. People are asking on the daily where I’ll be performing and I promise, I’m working on it and will have an answer SOON!
As for what sets me apart, as a PISCESSSSS, I’m a dreamer and creator. Therefore, I will forever be proud of myself for never being afraid to create my own lanes. When opportunities don’t exist, I create them. If I can imagine it, I can bring it into reality. But most importantly, for always promising myself to be authentic, real, kind, humble and ME.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The biggest risk that I’ve taken thus far was packing up my then 2 year old and whatever I could fit into my Nissan Juke and moving to Georgia with literally a dollar and dream. I didn’t have much of anything but I knew that it was the perfect opportunity to rebuild everything and I did just that! I spent 4 years in Georgia away from majority of my family, friends and everything that I know and I was just fine, I was able to think clearly and establish myself as a woman, mother and business woman. I was able to find myself, speak my truths and build my confidence. I FOUND MY VOICE.
I have since took another risk and relocated back home to Detroit where I have re-established my businesses and work as a full time entrepreneur which in this economy is a risk in itself! (lbvs) but its ALL BETTS ON ME and God wouldn’t (and hasn’t) given me a vision I can’t fulfill. Therefore, there’s no way I can lose!
