Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Barr.
Hi Ben, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been making music since i was 8 years old and introduced to GarageBand on my dad’s iPad. First thought: “this is better than Minecraft!” Fast forward to 22 and i’ve been enjoying and honing a few different creative skillsets: piano, guitar, drums, music production in general, songwriting, and making videos. I’ve had the joy of publishing a few albums and songs over the years in my name and collaborating in the worship genre with projects under SOZO, and even playing keys on a few records with my friends at MBL Worship. Currently my wife Claire and I serve as missionaries with the EveryHeart Movement based here in Grand Rapids
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Never! Always twisty and turny, and often not knowing what lies ahead. My biggest struggle was (and sometimes still is) finding my deepest purpose, because that will fuel everything i do. Another huge one I’ve had to come is anxiety – feeling full freedom to truly express my work and ideas, without overwhelming fear of judgement. I’ve found that time and time again when I’m able to align with my true nature and identity in God, fear leaves and purpose in my heart is affirmed.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a music producer, artist, and Christian content creator working at the intersection of faith, creativity, and culture. I specialize in making indie, alternative, and electronic music. I’m also a full-time missionary with the EveryHeart Movement to share the message of Jesus through media, music, and ministry.
I’m most proud of the way I’ve been able to integrate my faith into my creative work without compromising quality or appeal. I aim to inspire and reach people where they are—whether or not they share my beliefs.
What sets me apart is the intentional blend of authenticity, artistry, and mission. I don’t just want to make content—I want to make meaningful content that draws people in with creativity and leaves them thinking or feeling something deeper. I’m building a community from the ground up, and that grassroots, honest connection is a big part of my identity as a creator.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk is a huge part of my life. As i’ve shared, belief in God has given me strong purpose, and for that belief to be genuine requires faith. There’s a famous speaker who says “faith can be spelled R-I-S-K”. So since faith is integral to my life, so is risk. I’ve found in my long lifetime of 22 years, stepping into the unknown pushes me to rely on God, and He always increases my abilities in all areas that i need.
