Meet B. Angela Redd Redd of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to B. Angela Redd Redd.

Hi B. Angela Redd, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I was twelve years old, I wrote a play and got a bunch of kids from the neighborhood to perform it in my backyard. By the time I was fourteen, I was working on two young adult novels, simultaneously moving seamlessly between the two worlds of characters living inside my head. I fell in love with writing and decided that one day, I would be a published author.

But years ticked by, and despite my passion for writing never wavering, it took me thirty years to finish my first novel. In 2022, I published Willfully Blind. And three years later, the sequel, Willfully Broken.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth ride. Like most people, having a family, a career, and a life can drain your creativity. At least it did for me. And then there was what I would describe as the occasional paralyzing fear and a bit of an inferiority complex. It was like imposter syndrome on steroids!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So, unlike most writers, I write character-driven fiction. I’m a storyteller with a knack for weaving raw emotion into unforgettable stories. I have a passion for writing stories that capture the complexities of love, heartbreak, and healing; all things universally relatable to anyone who has ever faced struggle, loss, or the fight to rebuild. I’m proud of the path I’ve chosen in my writing journey. It’s challenging to carry a story on characters and their experiences. My Willfully Series, Willfully Blind and Willfully Broken, does that and so much more, or so I’ve been told!
It’s been rewarding to find my tribe and I look forward to others finding my work.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most of my close friends find me to be really funny.
