Today we’d like to introduce you to Avery Lonske.
Hi Avery, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey with the purchase of a 2004 Competition Orange Ford Mustang, this sparked a need and interest in keeping my vehicle in pristine condition. At the time I worked a full-time job for a home improvement store, noticing errors in management & customer interactions it brought the idea of creating my own business. Harnessing what I had learned and utilizing my jobs resources to go through courses on business and management, I created DrShine Detailing in September of 2023. My business started as a mobile only auto detailing service, it quickly expanded to a 2.5 car garage just outside of New Buffalo in Michigan City, Indiana. I ran my business out of this location for 6 months, working 11 hour shifts 4 days a week and spending my free time working on the shop and business. After thousands of dollars spent in renovations my landlord unfortunately decided to change the locks on me one night. Left without an area for my equipment or to operate from, I was unsure of where to go next. Thankfully a great friend of mine, Tyler Solner who runs Road Warriors Inc., gave me access to a bay in his facility to operate from. This allowed me to continue to grow my clientele while still working full time at my other job. I operated mobile & drop off only until May of 2025 when I was able to secure our current location at 135 E Buffalo St in downtown New Buffalo, MI. In September of 25′
I left my full-time position to pursue detailing 100%. We are partnered installers for SystemX Ceramic Coatings & Tinybot Vinyl & Paint Protection Film (PPF).
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest obstacle was definitely viewing my security footage late one night to find my landlord entering my shop, removing fuses from the electrical, and turning my cameras backwards. Unfortunately, between the full-time job I was working and everything else that comes along with life, I had no time to turn it into a legal battle or hassle. After a few days of dealing with the local police and my landlord, I was able to retrieve my equipment. This happened to occur at the start of winter, the worst time for someone starting out in this business. Cold weather means indoor operations only, and most clients simply don’t have the space to effectively service at home when temperatures are low. Thankfully a great friend of mine, Tyler Solner the owner of Road Warriors. Inc, reached out and offered a bay in his facility for me to operate out of. This allowed me to generate enough revenue through the cold months to secure my current facility in New Buffalo, MI. Without Tyler, I most likely would have been stuck still working my way back to a position in which I could have a brick-and-mortar location.
Along the way there have been other challenges as well; long hours, organizing expenses and income, learning SEO & Marketing techniques to name a few.

I personally don’t rely on “Luck”, I put my faith in God and try my best to make the right decisions in life and for my business. There are always times where things can go differently but I would rather look back and learn than chalk it up to how my luck was at a certain time.
