Meet Autumn Coon of Crow & Cauldron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Coon.

Autumn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, I’m Autumn — founder of Crow & Cauldron.

My story really begins in 2018, after having my son. Motherhood changed everything — including my health. I began battling autoimmune disease, chronic pain, and fatigue, spending years searching for answers and trying to understand what my body was reacting to. At the same time, my son was experiencing severe asthma attacks and migraines every winter.

That season forced me to look at our home differently.

I started researching the everyday products we were using — especially candles and plug-ins, which had always been my comfort. What I discovered was eye-opening. Many traditional home fragrance products contain synthetic fragrances, hormone disruptors, and chemicals that can aggravate respiratory and autoimmune conditions.

Suddenly, something that made my house feel warm and safe didn’t feel safe at all.

I wasn’t willing to give up the ritual of candles — but I also wasn’t willing to compromise our health. So I started experimenting in my kitchen. I researched ingredients obsessively. I tested waxes. I reformulated again and again. I failed more than once. But I was determined to create a candle that burned clean, filled a room beautifully, and didn’t come with hidden risks.

That process of healing and rebuilding is where Crow & Cauldron was born.

What started as small batches poured at my kitchen counter has grown into a clean-burning candle brand now carried in multiple retail locations across Lapeer County and beyond. We specialize in wholesale partnerships with boutiques, cafés, apothecaries, and bookstores — because candles belong where community gathers.

Every candle is hand-poured using organic soy wax, lead-free cotton wicks, and carefully sourced fragrance oils that are free from parabens, phthalates, SLS, SLE, sulfates, nitrates, and hormone disruptors. Always migraine free and asthama safe.

Creating products that are safe for families, pets, and those with sensitivities isn’t a marketing angle for me — it’s personal.

Crow & Cauldron is more than a candle company. It’s a reflection of resilience. It’s proof that something beautiful can come from hard seasons. It’s about creating comfort without compromise.

And we’re just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road?

Not at all — and honestly, I don’t think meaningful things ever are.

Choosing to build a truly clean brand comes with challenges. High-quality, non-toxic ingredients cost significantly more than the industry standard. Creating candles that burn clean while still delivering strong, beautiful scent requires extensive testing and refinement. We do things differently — and different takes intention.

But that difference is the point of Crow & Cauldron.

At the same time, I’m still a mom. I still navigate occasional health flares. I’m building this in real life — not in perfect conditions — but that keeps the mission grounded and personal.

The road hasn’t been effortless. But every challenge has reinforced why we exist: comfort without compromise. Scent without sacrifice.

And in just six months, the growth has proven that people are ready for something better.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Crow & Cauldron?
Crow & Cauldron is a clean-burning, wholesale-focused candle brand specializing in high-quality, non-toxic home fragrance.

We create hand-poured candles made with organic soy wax, lead-free cotton wicks, and carefully selected fragrance oils free from parabens, phthalates, sulfates, SLS, SLE, nitrates, and hormone disruptors. Our focus is simple: beautiful scent without compromise. Scent without sacrifice.

What sets us apart is our ingredient integrity and transparency. The candle industry is saturated with synthetic fragrance and low-cost fillers. We intentionally chose a different route — even though it’s more expensive and more complex — because clean air inside the home matters.

We are known for strong scent throw without the harshness, elevated scent profiles that feel intentional rather than trendy, and branding that feels both modern and timeless. Our collections often lean into story-driven fragrance — book-inspired scents, moody blends, and refined, niche profiles that stand out in retail environments.

Although we officially launched in July 2025 and pivoted fully into wholesale in September 2025, our growth has been rapid. In just six months, Crow & Cauldron has expanded into multiple retail locations and continues to grow through intentional partnerships with boutiques, cafés, apothecaries, and specialty shops.

We are most proud of building a brand that proves you don’t have to choose between performance and health-conscious formulation. Our candles fill a room beautifully — and they’re created with families, sensitivities, and clean living in mind.

At its core, Crow & Cauldron exists to create comfort without compromise.

We’re not just selling candles.

We’re redefining what they should be.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Who else deserves credit?

First and foremost, my husband, Josh, deserves more credit than I could ever fully put into words. From the very beginning, he believed in this vision before there was proof it would work. Entrepreneurship requires belief before there’s evidence — and he gave that freely. He has scraped wax off our counters late at night, loaded and unloaded vehicles, helped with every setup, and stepped in wherever I needed him — never once complaining, never once doubting. He has been steady when things felt uncertain and calm when things felt overwhelming. This business may carry my name, but it has his fingerprints all over it.

My sisters, parents, and grandma also deserve so much credit. They’ve stepped in for countless babysitting hours, smelled and re-smelled more candle variations than anyone should have to, and patiently listened to every new idea, scent concept, and “what if we tried this?” moment. They’ve been my sounding board, my test market, my biggest hype, and my reality check — often all in the same afternoon.

I’m also deeply grateful for the local retailers who took a chance on us early. Boutiques, cafés, and specialty shops that were willing to say “yes” before the brand had momentum. Those first wholesale partnerships weren’t just sales — they were validation and opportunity I will remember forever.

And of course, our customers deserve enormous credit. The repeat buyers. The ones who tag us, tell their friends, gift our candles, and trust us in their homes. Their word-of-mouth support has fueled much of our rapid growth and allowed this brand to expand far faster than I ever anticipated.

Crow & Cauldron may have started at my kitchen counter, but it grew because people chose to believe in it.

No business builds alone — and I don’t take that lightly.
