Meet Ashleigh Spencer of Mobile Cuts And More

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashleigh Spencer. 

Ashleigh, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story began during the pandemic in 2020. I worked at a salon for eight years and had become familiar with many of the faces that would visit the salon for their regular haircuts every month. After talking to some of the clients who I had gotten phone calls from I realized that there were no mobile salons in the greater Lansing area and that there was a high demand for a mobile salon. I did my research, and Mobile Cuts and More was born. I specialize in senior citizen hair and nail care, including chemical services, styling, haircuts, manicures, and pedicures and I currently travel to Lansing and surrounding areas. I plan on growing my business this year by hiring employees and taking care of as many people as we can! 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I decided to put my all into this business, and so anything that I had saved up, as well as all of my time, went into the start-up of this business; so for me, one of the struggles was trying to have some money coming in to provide for my family while trying to Run a business that many people did not know about at this point things have definitely gotten better, but there are still some weeks that are slow, and I have to figure out how to supplement the income that I once was bringing in. Another struggle that isn’t so bad is figuring out how to organize things so that they are mobile without anything getting broken or without putting too much strain on one’s body from trying to carry tools, supplies, and products.

Mobile Cuts And More is a mobile salon that serves the greater Lansing area traveling to homes, apartments, and senior citizen communities. I specialize in senior citizen, hair, and nail care and have been a licensed stylist since 2012. I have a passion for people in general and especially senior citizens, so It’s easy for me to treat them as if they were family I find people usually are very comfortable around me. I love styling and making people feel and look their best that’s what makes this business feel like it’s not work. I want Mobile Cuts And More to be what everyone thinks about when they think about senior citizen, hair, and nail care myself as well as my employees will treat all of our clients as if they are our family. 

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Happy clients matter the most to me because if they are not happy, then I am not doing my job, and I do my job to make them happy. A haircut or style can change someone’s opinion on how their day is going, and I like to be that part of everyone’s day that makes it that much better.
