Today we’d like to introduce you to Arthur Harrison.
Hi Arthur, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started off making music and writing songs when I seven years old when one day I was doing chores and heard my brother “James” listening to a song with an up pace beat that makes you wanna dance. I instantly stopped what I was doing and asked him what was he listening to. That’s when he told me “Ambition Az A Ridah” by 2pac right then and there I knew this is something I can be good at. The first time I recorded a song I was Thirteen years at school in the hallway during lunch time. My teacher gave me a computer. I made the song and put it out on SoundCloud. The song didn’t do very well, but it made me realize where I was as an artist and gave me more confidence. So, I studied my history on music explored every genre. and even read dictionaries to help me grow as an artist. It took until I was 16 to gain a little buzz around the Area with my song “Ground Up Featuring AllStar Jr.” making that song help me get a little exposure and widen my fan base. Currently, I am working on project called “1 Foot in 1 Foot Out,” which will be mainly focused on a new sound and a new me. I can’t wait until everyone hears the new music I’ve been working on
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a smooth ride during this journey. I’ve been knocked down, lost everything I had, had friends who I thought were day one’s switch, and even lost loved ones on the road to success, but I know god chooses his toughest soldiers for battle, so I never once complained. I know my time is coming, so I don’t let distractions or any type of stress get in my way from the goal
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others is my sound of music. Everyone from my area is tryna ride the “Detroit/Flint” wave, and I’m just tryna be me. When you listen to my music to don’t really hear an artist in my sound or even think I’m trying to be something I’m not. I want my music to be played 20 years from now, not 20 days from now. That’s why I always choose quality over quantity.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I feel that if you don’t take any risk, you won’t get the reward you’re looking for. Meaning that you can never take a risk in life and still be successful, but you’re going to always have that void of feeling like you’re missing something in life. When you’re out taking risks, you are living life to the fullest, so in the end, there are no regrets. I done spent over 100,000 on recording songs, and I’m still not where I wanna be at in my career.
