Gloss Babes is a business based out of Grand Rapids Michigan, by a mother Arianna Baker setting her daughters up for success. Co-owners Avah & Arabella started at the ages of two- & five-year-old entrepreneurs. We started off just selling vegan homemade kid luxury lip gloss & added clothes & accessories to our inventory. Our goal is to offer fashionable products to all of our young customers at affordable prices.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was very many bumps and tweaks; I look forward looking back and seeing how far they came from the very beginning. Today we grew a lot from where we started, trial & error made us to where we are, we will continue to strive for the very best in our brand. I learned that being a business owner isn’t easy and you have to keep on going to reach your goals, some days are harder than others, trying to maintain and grow and keeping the girls focused on what I know they will be very proud of as they grow into young adults.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We specialize in little girl clothing sizes 0M-12Y old, we have homemade custom vegan lip-gloss, with many edible flavors such as cotton candy, birthday cake, grape soda, skittles, marshmallow & blue raspberry. We just added accessories such as pop-its, purses, and custom nameplate necklaces. I am most excited about watching my girls grow with their business, their ideas and love for their brand at a young age encourages me and motivates me as a parent and in everyday life. Most important my two daughters Avah & Arabella, I wanted to start them up at a young age for success with a business of their own to grow as they get older and eventually take over their selves. Without their love, effort & support, this business would have never been thought of.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5-10 years, we have many big shifts and goals, plan to take the online boutique and add on and open a storefront, have pop-up shops, and training my girls to take over the business on their own.
