Antwuan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey has been rooted in service, perseverance, and a desire to create opportunities for others. I started my career in law with a focus on helping people who were often overlooked, particularly individuals seeking Social Security Disability benefits. Early on, I saw how complex the system could be and how many deserving people struggled to navigate it alone. That experience pushed me to become a strong advocate for individuals and families who needed someone in their corner.
At the same time, I have always had an entrepreneurial mindset. I founded Five Star Luxury Realty with the vision of building a brokerage centered on professionalism, integrity, and elevated service for clients across Michigan. In the beginning, I focused on building systems, branding, and a strong foundation before bringing on agents. Today, the brokerage continues to grow, and I am proud to mentor agents and help them build successful careers while serving clients at a high level.
Along the way, I have been fortunate to receive recognition such as being named a Super Lawyers Rising Star and being honored among the Top 40 Under 40 attorneys. These acknowledgments are meaningful, but what matters most to me is the impact. Whether it is helping a disabled client obtain benefits, guiding a family through the purchase of a home, or mentoring young professionals entering the legal field, my goal has always been to create lasting change.
My story is still being written, but the foundation has always been the same: faith, hard work, and a commitment to serving others while building businesses that empower people and strengthen the communities around us.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. Like most entrepreneurial journeys, there have been many challenges along the way. One of the biggest factors is that I am a first generation attorney and real estate broker in my family. I did not grow up knowing anyone in those fields, and I did not have built-in mentorship or family connections to help guide me through those industries. Because of that, I had to learn many things through experience, research, and persistence.
Early in my career, one of the biggest struggles was simply learning the systems and processes in both the legal field and the real estate industry while trying to build credibility. When you are starting out without a roadmap, you have to prove yourself constantly and earn people’s trust before they are willing to give you opportunities. Networking became my best friend. I made it a point to attend events, connect with professionals, ask questions, and learn from people who were already successful in the fields I wanted to grow in.
Along the way, I met a lot of great people who were willing to share advice and insight. I also spent a lot of time reading books, researching, and studying different strategies to better understand business, law, and real estate. That self-education played a major role in helping me build confidence and develop the skills needed to succeed.
Building businesses also comes with financial pressure and long hours. There were times where I had to invest heavily in systems, marketing, and infrastructure before seeing the return. When I launched my brokerage, I spent the first several months building the foundation, creating policies, systems, and branding before even onboarding agents. That stage requires patience and belief in the long term vision.
Another challenge has been balancing multiple responsibilities. As an attorney, broker, entrepreneur, and father, time management and discipline are critical. There are always competing demands, but those experiences have helped shape my leadership and resilience.
Despite the obstacles, those struggles have been some of the greatest teachers. They forced me to become more strategic, more disciplined, and more focused on building something that lasts. Looking back, every challenge played a role in shaping the path that brought me to where I am today.

Success also means staying grounded in integrity and professionalism. In business, there are always opportunities to take shortcuts, but true success comes from doing things the right way, maintaining strong ethics, and building a reputation that people trust.
On a personal level, success is about balance and legacy. Being present for my family, continuing to grow personally and professionally, and building businesses that can have a lasting impact in the community are all important to me. If the work I do opens doors for others and leaves a positive mark on the people I serve, then I consider that real success.
