Meet Antonio Avery & Pernishia Avery of Melody of Comfort Clothing Brand

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Avery & Pernishia Avery. 

Hi Antonio Avery & Pernishia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are a company that started in 2017. My wife had a vision to create, a line that represented us, comfortable fashion rooted in nostalgia for the ’90s. At first, we had multiple ideas we implanted into our line, but the one that stood out, and stuck was the “WhatUpDoe”, line. So, after doing some research, and restructuring our brand, we decided to focus on that piece to reintroduce ourselves. Coming from Detroit, we wanted something that represents us 100%, but still won’t alienate anyone else. We are building a legacy for our daughters, at the same time, paving a way to become full-time entrepreneurs!! 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was pretty rough in the beginning because we didn’t have much experience in the fashion industry at all. We basically took a huge leap of faith, we had to understand different fabrics, the advantages/disadvantages of screen print, the quality of the shirts, it was a learning curve for sure. Another aspect that has gone smoother this time has been marketing and promoting. We have been more vigilant, in engaging with our customers and providing updates on a constant basis, which has proven to be more beneficial for us. 

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Melody of Comfort Clothing Brand?
We are a brand, that is all about comfort first, but still keeping our customers fashionably fit. Our brand is able to be dressed up, dressed down, for when you want to lounge, it’s essentially all-purpose. As we stated earlier, we wanted to relaunch with the piece that gained the most traction our first time, but in a much grander way. Now we have our sights set on the future…we are in the process of looking at adding additional colors, more variety, and our own signature line as well. I would say the thing that pushes us, which we are most proud of is the fact that we are doing this together, as husband and wife, and creating something from nothing. To see our brand receiving the love that it’s getting, in different states, by friends, family, and strangers is beyond encouraging. We believe that, when you do something with a pure heart, you’ll get pure results. So please continue to watch your emails as we get closer to the holiday season as there may be some discounts and surprises in store for our customers.
