Meet Amy Gibson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Gibson.  

Hi Amy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I fell in love with photography while I was in high school, I loved taking photos of my friends just for fun, and I started thinking more seriously about photography as a career when I was eighteen and decided to pursue more education. While taking courses, I launched my business and started booking more and more clients. I graduated from The New York Institute of Photography in 2015, and since then I have been a full-time photographer! 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There were definitely some struggles along the way. Starting a business can be overwhelming, especially while trying to find your “style”. Comparison and social media can also be very toxic, but finding the right balance that worked for me helped tremendously. I have grown so much over the years and am so grateful to be where I’m at now in the industry. 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer specializing in weddings and engagements. I love shooting all types of lifestyle sessions as well. I am most proud of the weddings I get to shoot, there’s something so special about capturing the story of a wedding day. 

I would say what sets me apart is my shooting style and experience. My goal is for your photos to have a timeless feel, and I want my clients to have a great experience in front of the camera. 

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Yes! I use Wedding Pro and the Unscripted App to name a few. They have a lot of great resources for photographers
