Meet Amy Ann Russell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Ann Russell.

Amy Ann Russell

Hi Amy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Chicago native, and current resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan USA. For 20 years I worked primarily as an outdoor adventure guide in Colorado and Central America. Recently, I pivoted my career to return to college and completed a degree in digital art and design.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, not a smooth road at all! My life path has been very non-linear. You can say I am definitely taking the scenic route through my life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an artist who plays with light. I turn everyday photography images into something extraordinary. I develop large-scale art for corporations, yet also make it accessible to the individual. The intent of my artwork is to uplift the energy of the environment it is in and nudge the viewer to be in the power of the present moment.

What sets me apart from others is that I began making Visual Meditation Art in 2019 to assist my personal meditation practice. I am driven to combine art and science. Visual Meditation Art allows you to meditate with your eyes open, and is “vitamins for your eyes”. It is the core of a new concept I am pioneering “scientifically proven healing artwork”.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Not really. I do a lot of scientific research online, but I am quite a nerd, read a lot, listen to music, and have not owned a TV for over 20 years. I prefer to live life unplugged. I spend most of my downtime in nature, exploring meditation, and sobriety, and I enjoy silence.
