Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Norman.
Hi Allie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
* My training experience started with our family beagle whose nose always found a way to get him into trouble! His obsession with sniffing, inspired me to become curious about how dogs think and learn. During high school, I continued to spend time around other pups and dog sat for friends and family. Shortly after graduating I began working for Dream Dogs Training. I’ve been there for one and half years now and am currently working my way through CATCH’s certification program.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
* Everything that is worth doing has challenges along the way. It takes a set of skills to communicate clearly with a dog, but the long term success of the training is dependent on the owners confidence in understanding their own dog. By working with both as a team, we help to close the gap in understanding so that owners know how to continue succeeding in their goals.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
* At Dream Dogs, we specialize in everything puppy. We help support families through puppyhood by offering socialization and training opportunities. During this delicate time in a young dog’s life, we implement research backed methods to help guide your puppy on the path to becoming a well-mannered adult.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
* I’ve been incredibly lucky throughout my journey. A large part of success is having the right people around you and I’m very fortunate to work somewhere where continued learning and curiosity is always encouraged. I’ve been blessed to be given continued learning opportunities and coworkers who are always happy to help problem solve tricky behaviors.
