Meet Alexis Cassar of Daisy Dunes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Cassar. 

Hi Alexis, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Daisy Dunes is one-woman operation based in Auburn Hills, MI – and full of colorful and patterned decor and accessories! 

The idea for my eclectic-inspired boutique began in 2018 with a focus on curating a hotspot full of fun finds you don’t come across often in-store. Since then, I’ve grown steadily through a number of online marketplaces (including my site www.ShopDaisyDunes.com). 

I love that I get to hand-pick items that my customers adore and that these items encourage them to share their unique style with the world. What’s “trending” isn’t always for everyone – and that’s where Daisy Dunes comes in! 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! I’ve been through a couple e-commerce courses since I started as a newbie and have had to learn everything from store building to email marketing (and everything in between). I’m still a forever learner when it comes to my business since times are constantly changing – but I hope to bring specialized help on soon to share in the fun! 

We’ve been impressed with Daisy Dunes, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My brand began with the intention of supplying customers with fun finds they don’t see often in-store (and that is the continued aim still today). Everything I stock has a bohemian and/or colorful and/or patterned feel, though this fall I am introducing some more toned-down hues (especially in the “wearables” section!) 

I do all aspects of the business – social media, email creation, site management, product sourcing, shipping & packaging, etc. I’m proud to have transitioned this business from drop-shipping to shipping all inventory out of my home. Packaging orders and taking them to the post office is actually one of my favorite parts of my day :] 

Readers should know that my brand is a place for lovers of color & pattern to come for affordable gifts, life hacks, and all-around rare finds. When you purchase from Daisy Dunes, you are directly supporting a 30-year-old solopreneur :] 

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Google Calendar, Trello, Shopify! Podcasts I enjoy listening to while shipping include 1. Cultish, 2. Heaven & Healing Podcast, and 3. Daily Audio Bible. I love to learn/”read” for personal interest when I’m doing something repetitive in my business (like shipping) for a mental break! :]
