Meet Alexandra Shepherd of Meta Morph Pilates and Wellness Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Shepherd.

Alexandra , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

I began my career in politics, having earned a degree in political science. After working in Lansing and gaining firsthand experience with the inner workings of government, I decided to step away from that path and follow a more peaceful and fulfilling passion: teaching Pilates. I wanted to create a space where women could build strength and confidence in a supportive, welcoming environment.

My heart is especially with mothers of neurodiverse children—those with ADHD, ADD, OCD, ODD, autism, and more. With that in mind, I designed my Pilates studio to include a dedicated children’s lounge that accommodates both neurodiverse and neurotypical kids. This allows parents to focus on their own well-being, knowing their child has a safe and inclusive space for an hour.

In the studio, I strive to personally welcome every client and keep class sizes intentionally small. My goal is to foster a sense of community where people can connect, support one another, and feel that help or friendship is never far away.

Above all, it’s deeply important to me to create a nonjudgmental space where everyone feels they belong. And as a bonus—you’ll get an amazing Pilates workout.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve faced roadblocks, delays, and challenges—but that’s the path to success. Around the world, countless women have endured even greater struggles. In comparison, mine feel small. But one truth remains: never stop moving forward. When you fall, rise up, dust yourself off, and keep going. No one can truly stand in your way—except you. Obstacles will always exist. Step over them, push through, and stay the course.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Meta Morph Pilates and Wellness Studio?

At our full-service Pilates studio, transformation is more than a goal — it’s the essence of everything we do.
Equipped with reformers, Cadillacs, a stability chair, and a ladder barrel, our space is designed for comprehensive, classical Pilates training. We intentionally keep our classes small — no more than five students — to ensure each client receives personal attention and a strong sense of connection.

We recently expanded our offerings to include a serene salt spa, featuring a state-of-the-art halogenator, and a luxurious two-person indoor steam sauna. These additions enhance our mission of holistic well-being, offering clients a sanctuary to restore both body and mind.

Though I specialize in classical Pilates, our classes are never one-size-fits-all. Each session is thoughtfully crafted to make every client feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. We’re not just a studio — we’re a community. Laughter, conversation, and camaraderie are as essential here as the quiet focus and physical effort we cultivate during movement.

Metamorphisis — the inspiration behind our name and butterfly logo — reflects the journey we witness every day: physical change, mental clarity, and emotional renewal. Our clients embody this transformation. They aren’t just shaping their bodies; they’re finding their breath, reclaiming calm, and becoming stronger from the inside out.

Our studio is peaceful, feminine, and grounded in warmth. But make no mistake — the work is real. The discipline, commitment, and growth come from our clients. I’m most proud of them, because they are the brand. Without them, this space would just be four walls. With them, it’s alive with purpose and possibility.

What makes you happy?

I’m happiest doing things that improve health—both in the studio and in my personal life. I truly believe that moving your body and eating well are the foundations of a healthy mind and spirit.

I pray for each of my clients and hope that, through their time in the studio, they find more than just fitness. I hope they build friendships, feel encouraged, and are inspired to keep moving, nourish their bodies, connect with others, and live longer, healthier lives than they ever imagined.

I’ve witnessed how slow, silent illnesses can steal precious years. That’s why it brings me so much joy to see people doing something just for themselves—something that makes them a little stronger, a little healthier, and a little brighter every day.
